  1. Dirty wee gits. Hope you get it back and as said a good kick up the ring piece for the wee guys if you get them.
  2. Your quite right. A strange ferret, id make somone else grab it too but not my own son lol.
  3. Love the wee run you have for them. Cracking looking hobs too. Well looked after.
  4. Might have only had one collar and the jill would move if he tried digging to it. But honestly i dont know. They used to use the hobs on the line to find kills and lost ferrets. Personally never tried it myself. Everyone does things their own way or the way they were taught to do it. I collar all my ferrets when working. So easy for them to get stuck in a dead end behind a kill.
  5. Im doing ok mate. Taking it easy as always .
  6. My ferrets often fall in the mop bucket full of water out the back. Still not cold enough to kill them even with a wee dip. I dont dry mine off they dry themselves. I say the hutch hasnt been clean enough to lose both at the same time. Picked up a virus or bacteria from somewhere. But im only geussing.
  7. Ferrets are hardy enough. freezing cold days wont kill them. Loads of other things that do though, disease colds distemper and damp and dirty hutches and the likes will. probably picked something up. When go down they can go down quick.
  8. Good going mate. The wee fella will always remember that day. Nice gettiing the kids involved when you can.
  9. Look like bruisers. Not much will get past them when their grown. Fine looking hob kits.
  10. Looks exact same as my beddy whippet bitch, Sounds a handy cross. Nice looking dogs.
  11. Thats good going trev. I never bother with the weather report anymore, i look out the back door and if its dry im gone. Is that a beddy whippet your having to restrain for the picture ?.
  12. If its digging into your garden put a fox snare where its coming through. You can check it easy enough. Its probably not wanting the ferrets but it can smell what they are eating and wants that instead but it could still cause them to escape or worse if it breaks into them. Still try and secure the garden to stop anymore of them trying their luck. Bury rubble in the ground where they can dig in and make it harder for them to get into your garden.
  13. Really like watching that whippet working. Class videos. If i ever go for another running dog for ferreting i think id go for a full whippet too. Have a beddy whippet bitch just over a year old now. She does help out great but im sure she has a touch of adhd lol.
  14. Thats a good start to the season. Nice one.
  15. Aye they chill out more when they are fully grown. You'll still get the odd gentle bite when playing.
  16. You can breed them the first year they come into season if you want. If you breed and get a litter from your best every couple of year you'll always have a good age range. New kits starting from scratch as the older ones are retiring. Or if any die on you you'll have a replacement or two.
  17. Had albino hobs in the past that were very good workers and cleared everything in the burrows but the silver i have now does it a lot quicker. His first year i saw him catch full grown rabbits on 2 occasions as they had just cleared the burrows and were in mid bolt. Almost every rabbit hes bolted has had its arse nipped. You can tell theirs rabbits in the burrow as he literally hits the ground running and off down the hole. Only see him again when a rabbit bolts or when the burrows empty. Hes a big fluffy cat killer type lol. His brother from the same litter, putting it mildly was crap and had
  18. Thanks guys. Was all day yesterday bleaching every nook and cranny of the hutches and the dog pen so the rest of them dont take it. The rest seem fine. I have one of his jill kits for the end of this season so see how she goes.
  19. Least hang on to your locators. You'll more than likely get back into it at some point. I have stopped hunting a couple of times in the past due other things going. Always got got back into it again and its getting more expensive to buy the gear all over again. Congrats with the new baby.
  20. Always thought it was delibratly spread by farmers when rabbits are causing too much damage to crops. They catch a live rabbit and put the mixi in to its ears and throat wth a cotton bud then release it to spread it on to the rest of them. Horrible disease.
  21. Thanks lads.Tried everything giving him fluids through a syringe. Vets and antbiotics. Nothing worked he still died on me this morning. Rip bruce.
  22. Thanks lads. Not looking good at all. Hes lying in a box with a hot water bottle just now and hes drank a good bit of water. Just hope the medicine takes effect and he pulls through. I let yous know the outcome either way. Thanks again.
  23. Hes in the vets now. iv to pick him up in 2 hours. Hes going getting fluids and antibiotics. She was going to keep him in overnight. I said no i can keep a better eye on him i the house.
