My wee beddy whippet bitch is very subtle at marking sometimes. You would miss it if you werent watching her. She has a smell around the burrows, if she has second sniff there is something home but its deep in the burrow, then other times if a rabbit is not so deep and is closer to the burrow entrance she will try go down after it. never been wrong yet.

If hes biting to the extent where he gave your partner 5 stitches and hes still trying to have a go, scruff him hard as you can and shake the shyte out him everytime he attempts it. If that doesnt work after a while nothing will, time to give him a dunt.

cats dont cause the same damage to poultry and livestock as what a mink will. Cats can be useful on a farm for keeping vermin down, a mink never will be welcome on any farm here. I think there is still a bounty on every mink killed here. Iv been hearing of dozens of new born lambs found with their eyes eaten in one night here. Cats might eat song birds but they predate more on young rabbits and rats, their not causing hundreds to thousands of euros worth of damage in one visit. I like mink and think they are cool little creatures but i dont think any other invasive species causes as much damag

All my local spots have been cleared out with myxi this year. i had a couple of cracking spots where you would literally see hundreds of rabbits running around, not now. on one of them i only saw 3 rabbits last time i was lamping on it and the other areas there is nothing around at all. they went from overrun to dead in 2 months.

You would be best to make the ferret yawn if you get a proper bite but the two bad bites i saw they were ripped off by the scruff in panic. If i was buying a new ferret id always want to see the owner pick the ferret up before i touch them.

Depends to what extent their biting W_R. Most bites come from playing which isnt meant to hurt you they just grab you but dont mean to break the skin. Other times when their hungry you can get a bite where they grab you instead of the food. Young kits usually start chewing but well handled ferrets let go straight away. Then you get the odd bad fckr that hang off you and shake and need pryed off but you very very rarely get them. Iv only ever saw 2 ferrets like that. But you do get them.

Pity rabbits aint worth much then they would stop putting diseases like this down. But then again you probabaly wouldnt be allowed to hunt them either as greed rules over sense. All my permissions got hit bad with myxomatosis this year. Its not getting spread to save crops as none grow where i am, they just dont want certain people on their land with lurchers. Wont make a difference as the same folks who their trying to stop only hunt hares. Oh yeah and gardeners also spread it to stop the rabbits digging up their nice lawns. I always get asked how much i get for the bunnys and what i do with

Not having a go at you lads in the slightest but you would think the government would have learned from past mistakes about tinkering with nature. Beatles cane toads pigs dingos and foxes all problem species now. I read once the rabbit numbers drop so does the number of small marsupials as their is that many predators now and rabbit is their main food source. Then the natural predators cant compete with the foriegn invaders. I also dont like the sound that its not breed specific.

I heard them about a month ago calling to each other. I just put it down to cubs too.

Excellent haul there mate. Cracking dogs too. Hope you had help carrying all them lol. -
Hormones id say, like rat tail the hobs take when their in season. Iv a jill the same, bald on the tail and back. She wasnt bred and and lost a bit of fur. Should grow back with the winter coat. Any dirt on the skin i clean with warm water and a cloth to prevent dry skin and rashes. Can look a bit rank.

Iv a kit here thats sound when shes in your hand but anything above the wrist if she catches you she will have a good chew on. She would leave you black and blue. Starting to calm down slightly, her mother was the same, took best part of a year for her to quit it. Plenty play and give them a row for biting hard the same as you would with pup brings them right i find.

Nice looking pup.

Seems to be if their classed as pet ferrets the owners demand higher prices too. Saw normal polecat coloured ferrets going for anything up to €100 but always have the conditions that hunters dont buy them. See them all the time on done deal, usually right beside the working ferrets that are going for €20.
-
Il save up and buy two. Then when i sell the kits i could buy some decent ferreting gear lol.
-
I had to up the poultry in my ferrets diet as one of my kits got eaten this year. Was feeding mostly rabbit before. Still have the rest thankfully. I find my jills do better when fed on chicken and fill out quicker. As for having the jills in together depends on the jills. Iv never had a problem with them being in together but i would breed 2 at the same time, leave them in and let both raise them.

Anywhere the fish are.
-
Anywhere the fish. Try and and avoid snaggy ground but shore, rocks and pier.
-
Aye feather an spinner. Gives you the chance of catching sea trout too. When your getting mackerel wait till one takes then let your line go slack so the fish swims back into the shoal again, then you fill the feathers up with fish before you reel them in.
-
I was using feathers with a koster spinner.

Tried for a few today but no joy. The boys in the boats were getting a few. But nothing was getting caught from the shore.
-
Will do.
-
Down in sligo. Lad was out in a boat today says their was plenty around. I know they have been getting caught in ones and twos from the shore over the past week but their seemingly in proper shoals now. See how it goes tommorrow.
-
Few macks being caught in the north west of ire today in close to the shore. Got a few given to me earlier. Goin out shore fishing for them tommorrow myself.

Problems i have with my beddy whippet bitch are she wont retrieve rabbits, she pins them to the ground live, if i give her some time to see if shes going to retrieve it, she kills it and then refuses to touch it. Shes has absolutly no interest in the dummy rabbit anymore or anything dead. She used to retrieve the dummy perfect but never the real thing. She only ever retrieved a rabbit live once. The other problem she has is if she has a couple of misses, when she does catch she kills straight away out of frustration and when she gets the scent of anything she pulls like a bull terrier on the l
