Iv only a couple of permissions and one of them i get the cops phoned on me every time i go on it now. Some twat claiming to be the landowner. But its not its one of his neighbours. Soon as i started going on with the lurcher they started lifting the phone. Infact i got cops phoned on me for walking past the land never mind being on it. It is getting near impossible to get permissions nowadays. I felt like getting rid of the dog and ferrets at the start of the season as it seriously restricted my hunting and still is kind of. Just try share perms till something comes up. Ill share my perms wit

Yeah €350 is a rip off even for working type. They dont look like 1st crosses imo. Id expect them to be more wooly looking also if they were first crosses.

Theirs easier dogs to keep if you just want it as a pet. Any iv saw are out and out cat killers but they are off working stock. Not good when your wee dogs hard wired to kill wee small fluffy things and seem to find them everywhere. The boys cant go to a park and let their dogs off lead without them finding trouble to get into. These ones would find something to kill or fight. Suppose you will always get the exception but their worse than a staffy when they start as they proper go for the kill. Personally i think their great wee dogs and i would keep one myself but it wouldnt be a pet.

Their hard mouthed and stubborn as hell. Not a wee bit stubborn. Infact you cant explain how stubborn they are. It has to be seen to be believed lol. Excellent wee mooching dogs though and game as anything. Sometimes they surprise you and catch more than just rabbits. Would run themselves into the ground doing it too. cracking wee dogs dogs imo.

Hi leeview. Any ferrets i got back in the day were given to me for nothing. As you say gifted, the way it should be, but the 2 ferrets that i was on about cost me 25 euro each, which is the going rate here. Cheapest iv saw were 15 euro each for working ferrets and the most expensive being around 100 euro for a normal sable ferret. That was coming from a pet home. Their doesn't seem to be much gifting going on here. I still gave away what i wasnt using myself out of my litter as i preferred good homes for them more than anything. honestly i dont know nothing about the rescues other than what yo

Purse Stop/gate Net Making Advice Facebook
rabbit demon replied to ruggers13's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Im not on face book so cant see the page, sounds like a very good idea ruggers. -
leeview. Two of my ferrets came from pet homes but both their parents which were bought as pets came from working homes as kits, surplus after breeding or whatever. I wouldnt say they all never made the grade. Obviously some would be failed workers. Also it isnt just pet ferret owners that over breed them, plenty guys that hunt have litters of ferrets on sites for sale every summer and are charging top whack for them. Instead of getting jills jabbed or getting a vac hob to bring them out of season. A bit of extra income. When i was a kid their were just ferrets they all worked to my knowledge.

Couple of my almost bew silver, barr the wee one which is albino.

In the uk and ireland the pet and working lines arent much different. The pet ferrets came from working lines originally but id still try and get ferrets from workers first. You are more likely know how they will work from how the parents work. Most of mine came from pet homes and are solid workers.

I feed mine whole rabbits fish chicken also pigeon and mice the odd time. Basicly any type of raw meat except pork.

Get a few permissions first. Permissions can run dry with myxi and over hunting or even be lost, so have as many as you can. It can be costly to buy fresh meat for ferrets if your not catching them rabbits. Locaters and collars cost a bit even second hand, but their worth every penny and essential imo. Try and get someone to take you out the first couple of times to make sure you like ferreting before you commit to buying ferrets.

Raising Rio Part 10: Rio's First Brown Rat Hunt
rabbit demon replied to Minkenry's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Them ducks want to come up with a better strategy for avoiding rio. I can see that going pear shaped for one of them lol. Love watching the videos. Good video as always and congrats with the new baby. -
9 months still a pup. A mate of mine got his whippet used to my ferrets and it was well over a year old. I broke my staffy to my ferrets. He was 4 and and not animal friendly in the slightest. They all got on ok fairly quickly.

My wee beddy whippet bitch can be hard mouthed but she doesnt crunch the rabbits. When she gets a bolter or a run she does a quick snap and spits the rabbit out lifeless. Everything else i cant fault her on, she holds well in nets, recalls good and works around livestock no problem. Shes only a ferreting dog. I wish she would retrieve live to hand but i wouldnt get rid of her for killing the odd rabbit.

If shes only a kit shes not going to do massive damage to you if she does bite. I let my kits bite me. They get fed up with it after a while. Put her on her back tickle her belly and spend time playing with her too. Best handling they can get is a bit of rough housing, their predators and need practise to get to grips with their prey. Thats why they like diving on you baring teeth. Its all in fun. Its learning to hunt the exact same way as pups do. The bites do get less and gentler. Dont need to learn them to hunt stick them in holes and let them go when their big enough.

Couldnt tell my 2 silver jills apart for a week or 2 there. They changed colour enough that they were non recognisable for a while and i spend a good bit of time around them. Didnt know which one was which. One also had a bit of a mask and has totally lost it. Both are a couple of years old a huge change in their winter coats this year.
