Sounds grand pal, bit heart warming hearing of young uns taking an interest in anything like this, hope she stays with it, or at very least takes some valuable lessons on in life from it. A barn owl as well, one of my favourite. i would love to have the knowledge and time to dedicate to keeping them.

Yeah, every Tuesday and some saturdays, Melton is only really much good for the earlier part of the season as prices normally drop around xmas. i have a big chiller here your more than welcome to store for a trip up if that's any good, -
So, am I right in thinking the second lot of pics are ambidextrous as they all look quite even. joking aside they are some big lumps of beast, your a lucky guy going out and seeing/working with them.

I'm not so sure it's all down to the use of pesticides, sure, a good few years back it was been slapped around willy nilly, used too heavy handed and too strong in a lot of cases, I also think a lot of them were pushed onto the market without enough research into them. Things have changed, cost been the main reason, technology been the second, now farmers can target a certain patch of any field by gps plotting, data gathered at harvest and throughout the year marks hotspots for certain weeds, saves spraying a whole field, save hundreds of thousands of pounds. Also the cost of

Most eat ducks are pretty easy to keep, I prefer the Peking cross as they are fast growers and big heavy table birds, but a lot of folk like the Muscovy duck.

You gone to all the trouble of making a real nice house, why stick old bags and stuff on it, spend a couple of quid and get a decent lorry tarp made to size, screwed up top, and eylets on bottom with bungees to fix it at the bottom, roll up and bungee out the way when not needed
-
Just checked online and it will fit so yes please

Nothing new, cops have no way to dispose of it, and would have to use the services of a vet or similiar, so if the guy offered to dispose of it they would take the offer gratefully, and rightly so, he's obviously trusted enough to be on their dispatch list, why spend public money getting rid of said carcass if the shooter offers. I cleared a munt in town one evening after been hit by a car, I was in my Landy, wellies etc etc, they took one look and said "can you deal with this" it fed my dogs for a few days ?

Fair play to the farmer, I don't see it bullying, I see it standing up for your own rights and property, I would shake his hand and back his corner all day long. The only people who see him in the wrong are either poachers who don't like that sort of greeting from landowners, or sympathisers who should take a good look at themselves and what they think is right and wrong on other people's property. It's a shame our laws won't be behind him to the hilt, hence pity it's on camera.

Need some advice on buying a camera. The Mrs loves taking pictures of wildlife, plants and general scenery, but she has always had crap phone cameras to use. Seen as it's her birthday soon, I want to get her a very good quality camera to pursue her hobby further, she is actually quite good at stalking bees and dragonflies for close ups, so a good camera can only help surely. Now here's the hard part, she isn't very tech minded, so it needs to be easier to use than a space ship. Thoughts and suggestions please. Not sure it's relevant, but she is getting a telescope as well, so

As a test, I tried some aniseed in one feeder that was alway quiet, the birds always empty that one first, so I have stuck with aniseed, seeing really good numbers around now.
