  1. Sounds expensive, what they like inside ? my mate has one stored at my place, it has two chairs inside, with cup holders as well ! It's actually ok bit of kit, ideal for wary forbids, we put it out a week or two before we want to shoot so they get used to it. dont think it cost anywhere near that though, will have to ask him.
  2. My experience, the glass is the most important bit for the best clarity, bigger objective for dawn and dusk, but it's all about the quality of the glass. i do think the 30mm tube is more common place now.
  3. No reason other than all my scopes are 30mm, so I only have 30mm mounts and I have a habit of swapping scopes around between rifles as my mood dictates. i had considered inch tubes to give a wieght saving so wouldn't be out the question IF I found the right scope.
  4. Yeah I had a falcon menace on a gun I done a deal on, but wasn't struck on it so sold it, maybe should have given it a go.
  5. Feck me, all this from offering a week paid ferreting, no wonder folk don't like offering stuff on here. i did reply on your other thread, but maybe bit late to arrange now.
  6. I would like to think any vet worth his salt would have put that consideration first,so if the vet thinks it's worth a shot then may just be a chance, especially as it's been done for nowt, can't say money is the motivation. i hope it works out for the dogs sake.
  7. Well that's just wrong, an ex handler would be the ideal scenario here. i would imagine like most businesses in the uk, worried about liability and covering there arse by putting down a blanket 'no rehoming' policy.
  8. Yes I can believe that, I just prefer nice fine rest that are not overcrowded, like yourself I love the Scb on the Mtc scopes but always open to new ideas. I like illuminated rets at times, can be very handy, is it in an awkward position ? maybe just easier for them to use the same rear flip as the viper pro ?
  9. Be careful what you wish for. These are not just a pooch that needs a home as the owner is moving into a flat or such like, they are trained working dogs, and believe me they are not the type of dog 'most' people could take on. However i agree every effort should be made to home them, but that would need very very careful vetting, an ex handler maybe, a serving handler be no good as they are retired dogs, so would need to be left long periods with someone else looking after them. These are most definitely NOT the type of dog to be rehomed to general civilians, I know, I also ha
  10. That's the same birds I have by the sounds of it, also reared in an orchard full of grass, certainly gives them flavour.
  11. I like that ret, and had thought about trying the mamba lite, I believe the window on the flip up is a magnifying glass to look at top turret adjustment, at least it was on the viper pro.
  12. I'm in the market for a decent first focal plane scope, must be side focus, 30mm tube, pref 50 plus objective lens, mag anything upto 16 ish, but needs to start around 3 or 4, I don't like crazy busy reticle, and been ffp I would prefer a nice fine ret. i have an optisan which I quite like, just wondering what else is worth looking at.
  13. I love roast, and I occasionally enjoy turkey, but it's not a big Christmas thing in my house, we usually have one of our ducks, or a chicken, a joint of pork, just depends what we fancy a few days beforehand. think this year we may have duck and guinea fowl, as we tried some commercial guineas and looks like they will be ready, am expecting the ducks to come in about 3-3.5 kg each so that's enough for us ?
  14. Ditto, I think the world has gone soft as shite as that's way fecking unacceptable, luckily I'm well known around my quarter and the pissed up twats have a bit more sense than try that shit on.
  15. No sympathy how much it costs you if you can't keep it in.
  16. What's the deal ? I've next week off and family not to far from there I could visit in the evenings, my own ferrets and all the gear.
  17. Most definitely, I had an old black lab 20 plus yr back, softest mouthed dog ever, hell of a nose on it, I used to get calls from keepers asking me to bring her for picking up, and we used to dog in the boundaries regular, hardly ever went beating after the first few seasons as all the keepers wanted her picking up the runners.
  18. Plenty in Bedfordshire, I nearly married one !
  19. Depends what your really wanting pal, I have an r10, a regal, a hw100, two bsa s10's,all can be sold as they don't get any use.
  20. I can't see why they would ask if you was away for a few months in the first place.
  21. The idea of early lambs is very much money, people talk about spring lamb,, but not many breed them that early, it's a hardy lamb to go through winter and they take more effort, but a well bred lamb into the early spring market always fetches top dollar, a fine balancing act between losses and extra profit, most play safe and lamb later in the year to co-incide with better weather and new grass arriving.
  22. No he's a piss taker, cos he's laughing at the fact they can't stand up and look drunk.

    Fox

Just need some general advice at the mo. i have a large, and I do mean it's bloody big, fox visiting an area, I also know that very shortly I can expect it in my trap as it is going in and taking bait every night, now the thing is, from my camera pics it is a very nice one with a lovely looking coat, the Mrs has mentioned how she would rather see it as a rug ! so, for someone with zero idea about tanning, how practical is it to skin and prep/treat a fox skin and is it actually worth the bother or not.
