my mate bred a few and had a........ few simliar to yours they could fill a bag ,luke lana minni there all simliar to yours in looks good to see some typey collie types as long as they got the heart to go with it ,the top all round drawer collie types are getting rarer nowadays ,a real poaching type, ones that were at home on a feild or walking through a wood at nite with air rifle , good allrounders
-
if people bred for working ability and not just looks and were truthful then the dog game would be a lot simpler, and get dogs to suit the ground you work its not rocket sceince but takes a bit of brain and expeirence to get top drawer dogs that do the job
-
saw plenty hancocks had a few i got a decent one but im a dog man and made the dog , but saw plenty that the vet would had been kinder putting to sleep ,no pace,no guts, nervous and skittish , a bad recipe for a failed working dog , as for beardies still plenty in the scottish hills , and some beardie crosses to, all wet ,cold ,hill land , pace, agility, laid back, is a must for ferreting or rabbiting, ive had better saluk crosses than some of the nuerotic hanckockers ,and that is a fact not hear say, keep away from professinal breeders

Silken Windhound (Borzoi Whippet Line Bred)
fluff replied to flynndog's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
had the pleasure to see a few silkens they have nothing to give to the working dog market ,as there better tried and tested dogs about ,most are show dogs and when out coursing some were poor ,but there will be some rocket trying to say they have a right good one for money and showing ,some look like alight built lassie collie , with no running style or brain , ask the keen coursing men in the states etc theyl tell you the truth -
there good dogs if the fetch ,dont yip like a terrier , and dont put the head down when on game and deaf you out ,gotgood noses the ones ive saw but were head strong , still a good type of lurcher for rats and a bit of rabbiting

-

it takes years to produce good working all round lurchers , so going to just by any old collie lurcher from non tried workers can be chancy , the books they wrote were a selling magnet for pups ,been years since i saw agood allround hancock ,there were plenty in late eighties early ninties but not saw many nowadays ,better back yard breeders about nowadays ,or hobby breeders and workers
