  1. you cant beat seeing generaitions of workers easy to train , bred of dogs that graft , not just any old greyhound or collie , as traits come through poor greyhounds poor collies nervous , nobody buys of untried stock if there serous about hunting ,wether spaniels terriers coursing dogs , its hard enough getting the right pups without the chance of non working parents , hancock is a pet breeder with a bit working , remember this most dogs with half greyhound are fast enough weather collie terrier beagle whatever , its when you want the good traits kept close that you breed worker to worker ,mo
  2. good pic ive saw minni her mother lana years ago pity help what got up in front of them , good to see people breeding for work , i jimmys loooks like a runner , propa dog ,
  3. had good ferrets dogs or jills ,most have been sandys and white dog ferrets , got big greyhoundy ferrets ,jills there very keen and fight till there done , very good workers they came via rob moore and d sleight ,then bred them to my own ferrets , as for ratting done loads as youingsters in between coursing hares with a long dog , or two , some good sport back in the eighties there were warrens along the hedge rows ,like rabbit warrens 4 10 and dogs , ferrets did get bit up, but a bit hi karate on there cuts they winced but healed up , as after shaves an alchohal ,
  4. ye james mckelvie ,had dogs simliar still got one ,getting rarer the type of collie type that can do all thats asked with a bit style ,he had two if my memory serves right ,he bred them to a greyhound but some of the bitches i saw were fine made good for open land , but not a s robust as there father ,
  5. there better bred collie type lurchers out there, wouldnt line a non working dog or buy one , saw several hancocks but not any that would set the heather alite , ,,ive alway found good working dogs come from generaitions of good workers no matter if its terriers ferrets spaneils etc its not rocket science
  6. had alot of expierence with collie types and if i was going to breed a pure collie to a running dog i would use a racy saluki type ,with good feet and a hunting brain saw 2 or three like that and some up for stud ,better than any greyhound and they are proven in the feild and there producing the goods, and lack no pace
  7. ran with dogs of a litter of tor of dartmor first crosses 91 time and had afew 95 96 and a pup of sniper all decent dogs
  8. best non saluki i saw was a a bitch called lana a collie type , and as for useing staying greyhounds it works real well been tried and tested to get good fast saluki lurchers saw greyhound whippets stay and when bred to good saluki types stil thru wind to the pups,,

  14. hunted land down aldeburgh dirty wall they used to call it ,was rabbit and hare paradise ex m o d place, had some great days coursin rabbiting its lifting with hares , along martela tower ,rspb took it over you get snipe allsorts ,its mostly shingle and grass great for a saluki lurcher had only colie type back then and they blew up but what a place
  15. collie lurcher cross greyhound whippet line bred were the best ive saw and had , bolting rabbs etc they were pretty dynamite , most lurchers do well but if your not netting or going on you own a lot you need a good dog with a touch of collie and racing grew something that gets the job done quick and retrteives fast ,but most dog will ferret but good ones are fast agile and got a good attention span ,
  16. she maybe get better , but if your wanting game get a dog bred for it nothing worse than seeing game out running your dog or she is not agile enough to cope with the tricky rabbit ive saw collie crosses built like her could catch game but not on short wheat mostly rough cover , were the game baulks ,years ago we had collie crosses first crosses ,out of each litter maybe 2 or 3 were decent rest ,were mediocre ,hope your dog comes fine but better getting something suitable
  17. a sharp grab of kneck and no is enough, if your stock breaking maybe a bit check of the long leash or a good roar if they get to intrested in sheep lambs etc ,had dogs never looked at forbiden qaurry and others you had to keep at til they mature
  18. greyhound ferrets are out of fashion eu polecats are the way forward
  19. gd read can relate to the hare game late seventies early eighties great days and plenty of fun
  20. morton you are spot on before the ban there were better hare dogs and men who new how to run them but distant memories for some now its all about the money for some
  21. like the beddie cross apart from some yapping and very strong willed like a terrier
  22. saw allsorts saw afew good colie crosses saluk crosses and both filled the bag on hard lamped land ground that would blow alot of heavy running dogs away , or small terrier type , there has been best but leave it for them that was there ,
  23. saw the franny dog on you tube seems avery good animal wind and speed
  24. eighties we had collie lurcher with a splash of deerhound type , had decent hare dogs plenty hares to ,and no infringments from the law , ,mate had one bitch called jess mick douglas type could do 2 or 3 somedays regulary ,had a few early hancocks but never any were good hare dogs , there always been hares about and men with dogs that could catch ahare . early ninties when saluks became popular it got easier to get hare dogs or faster types with more wind
  25. 750 take it you can see it run for that
