    The Valleys

Simo's right Tomo, you do watch some shite... Thing is I love a bit of trash TV myself every so often but missed the boat on this one... So I'll let sleeping dogs lie.. this time of year I watch about one programme a week, so apart from Milkshake in the mornings the telly don't go on most days...! Our 'one' programme these weeks has been Skint, the Mrs loves it, there was a quote about it during the ad break, put up from the Times it said.. 'Poverty Porn' they called it and the way folk watch it and talk about it, thats as good a description as you'll get... I'd bet the Valleys is sommat simi
  4. I'm with C Hall & Dan, i'd rather go with close bred stuff than any other, the gear i've kept for a fair few years were all tight as feck and all went. Started off with a litter Bro & Sis mating, went from there... Never seen anythin but good with 'em but obviously I couldn't see 'em all so... If I could find a nice lurcher to lurcher line bred mutt now i'd be well happy but they are fast becoming the stuff of legend...!
  5. I wrote this post on dogs kicking off back in September last year... I still stand by it... http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/259063-stopping-a-dog-attack/?p=2790620
  6. That's it now Kay... Once you've done it, no going back... You'll be growing 'em every year, I'll betcha..!!
  7. Casso, now it all makes sense... Thank you for taking the time to write that up... On a bloody phone..!! This is a method of training that is new to me but when my next pup finally arrives i'm going to have enough knowledge on the subject to put it into place. What I like about it is the 'feel good' factor in a dog, I like that, that and a close bond. If those things are ironed out from the off, all things in the field should come easy or at least easier..!! As for twatting your dog in a fight situation, i've posted on the subject before and the last thing you should be doing is hit
  8. Thank you for that explanation Penny, I was trying to get it but couldn't grasp the concept. I really am open to such methods. Thanks Casso for mentioning it in the first place. I'll drop you a pm Penny, appreciated..
  9. Just wondering...? My interest in Hancock dogs went after my Taffy bred bitch, which, to be honest was feckin neurotic. And, I had one out of Chuckles (i think?) which was bloody good..! So, the question is, so many talk about these dogs and still must buy from him, your shout, your call, I ain't knocking anything and i'd rather if knockers stay off the thred.... I'm falling way behind on what Hancock has had in his kennels over the past few years... So 'what stud dogs' and whats the opinion on what they threw from there, onwards please..??
  10. I must admit when I read it the first thing that came to my mind was a picture of the long haired dude at a trippy hippy seminar attended in University about grounding our universal energy. And the second thing....?
  11. Oh dear Casso, I'm loving this but still 'not quite' getting it... OK, two things, 'Grounds energy', what exactly does that mean, as in you play 'tug of war', he does a bit of play/work type exercise...?? If so, how does that work with retrieving, because most pups that love to play tug of war are very hard to change of the habit, especially if the bunny is in the bag (gob), so to speak..?? And with stock breaking, you give him an 'alternative to acting on energy by chasing sheep', as in what..?? No disrespect here, but most would read that as a good slap..!? But you say you are 'his biggest
  12. Did a crackin crumble yesterday, splash of Port in the stewing Rhubarb really does do wonders... Yum..!!!
  13. Casso, I only wish I was a more intelligent man to fully understand your post.. I think I know where your coming from and if poss could you please tell more...? Just one other thing, 'my ten penneth worth' on correction, what I have learned over the years is that most owners 'break their own bond' with their dog... Once 'force' has been used, it can be used again much easier and for much less. Especially with highly strung owners and from there... It's a downward spiral...
  14. Bloody good pics Paul, sommat i've never seen, one swimming...
  15. Wasn't gonna jump into this debate but i'd back everything Elisderyn says, I've seen a few of this cross out, some bred off that breeder he mentions and yes, they are great fun in an around cover, hearts of little lions, as good ones should have.... BUT in open country I've never seen one catch either and I'd doubt, especially now I read folk with far far more experience of the cross than me have never seen it done, if genuine ones ever would... Horses for courses folks...
  16. Sorry for your loss AG, never good losing a dog..
  17. I'd agree with all said, a very decent bloke..!! I said when he put the ad up, it was a great offer and now someone posts who took him up on it and got something out of it and fantastic hospitality... Well done Colin...
  18. For the easiest option, I'd go with John's (bull terriers) post. Strim down, then cut, you may not think your cuttting any grass but you will be. After that get yourself some feed & weed and apply as per instructions. Cut as much as poss after and tidy up edges and pathways, if you have 'em, as this really does make a shite lawn look better. If you have bald spots after a few weeks, where heavy weeds have been, just patch repair. The bottom line with laws is cutting, once your doing this weekly it will really make a difference. Now, you can lay new if you want but for cost and eff
