  1. Sad to me reading some of these posts on this site... That 'little rat' as it's been called was someones beloved pet, makes no difference what it was doing or provoking in its own front garden, it shouldn't have been attacked and killed... I'll defend bull breeds forever but only if they are in the right hands and this dog, like many others that make the headlines, simply was not. Control, or rather the lack of it, being the problem here. The media are double quick to jump and attack, almost as quick as that dog, so its doubly important to present bull breeds in the most sensible manor but b
  2. It's ferrets for me this year after a 16 year absence. I kept em for 20+ years before and always built my own cages, they were a damn sight better than anything you could buy back then and if your half decent with wood you can really put as much in as you like and make 'em a bit special. they certainly would last a fair bit longer too. I first started off with old wardrobe carcasses and built fronts and sleeping compartments in 'em (anyone else do the same?), then when money was available after I started work I built from scratch using good new wood BUT lets not forget, these days wood ain't
  3. Many happy returns...
  4. If its bramble or other heavy duty brush type weeds, S.B.K. is very good, though they sell it ready mixed, try to get hold of the concentrate.
  5. Then I need a black merle...!!
  6. I'd love a Merle if I'm honest and one day I may see a litter that I like that has one... Until then I'll simply get any colour available from good blood...
  7. Used to have a great uncle that went away to sea all his life, boy could he splice. Made me a half check lead an collar combo years ago, it was both beautiful and practical, I wish I still had it. If you do learn to splice and could make those, i'd snap your hand off for one..!!
  8. Don't really give a shite what colour a dog is. I disagree with the old poachers fables on white dogs, these days a million or so candle power beam attracts more attention than a white mutt. I like white dogs too, as a white in good nick looks the bollocks but it can be a pain, especially if doing their job an there is claret flying..! And though brindle ain't my fave colour it is the best camouflage day and night, black dogs 'outline' more, same with black clothing. Just remember a good dog ain't never a bad colour....!!
  9. Big Daz, yep, I've owned a very good quality memory foam mattress & pillows for a few years now.
  10. Thank you for that heart felt advice...
  11. Splice.... get yourself a book on how to spice, stronger than anything else you could use and so versatile the list of what you could make would be endless. Done right with practice and they would look the bollocks too.
  12. Thanks for the reply's one and all Especially Simo's 'diagnosis'... No shit Sherlock..! Tomo, pulling a sicky on the hottest week of the year would be feckin genius but a heatwave through a window is bloody awful... Now, next question on bad backs... In the past i've occasionally used a Chiropractor for a general MOT, like I do with the dogs, always found 'em a great help BUT would anyone think they could help this situation, as has been said, I don't wanna get fobbed off with drugs BUT if those an complete rest will do the trick..???
  13. Yer, that was mentioned quite a bit, the sciatic nerve.
  14. Disk bulging or sommat, causing nerve issues, got a big pamphlet with all sorts of stuff on. If i'm honest she said that much I got lost with it all...!
  15. Never had a problem with my back, apart from jarring it lamping, which over some ground can be a bit often but nowt that didn't fix in a day or two. So at 46, in decent enough health, packed in cigs (not that I was a heavy smoker anyway) bought a mountain bike and loving it, walk miles, go to the gym regular etc, I started to get a sharp stabbing lower back pain about two weeks ago. Similar to when I've jarred it but I know I ain't done nothing direct. My only real problem is that I, like my old man was, ain't much of a sitting down bloke and would rather be up an constantly doing... Some da
  16. That's a strange one mate, maybe didn't want the earache he'd have got if he showed signs of encouraging you lol Yep mate, thats the only thing I can put it down to. I left home age 19 as I seen the dogs as being my real passion and needed my own place to continue. My dad still would always be at hand to help, especially making or building anything, done my first kennels and ferret court with me. Mam rarely visited, she hated all things hunting BUT if there was a dog problem, ailment etc, she knew her stuff and only then would offer advice, sort of 'barked' it at me! She had good sound
  17. If its on yer 'back wheels', a crab with a big set of pincers..!! horsefly...
  18. It was my dad that 'inadvertently' got me interested, he came from a family that were evacuated to Ludlow during the war and worked those years on a farm, taking me to work with him on Sundays on a local landfill site and allowing me to go with the ratters, he also brought home my first lurcher as a pup from the pub. Never said a word of encouragement though, he went along with my mother, who hated my new interest but he helped with just about everything, from building my ferret hutches to taking banged up dogs to the vet. All without a word... funny ain't it... In fact the only thing

  22. The perpetrator (a Pat Butcher impersonator!) and her victim...
  23. Damn it's hot...! Not that I'm complaining, the older I get the more I enjoy my summer but yesterday I was stuck in work, on the hottest day of the year and missed both the sun and the Scot winning at Wimbledon... But it was the phone call from home yesterday that has prompted me to write this. Tracy called, to say that she 'thinks' Ox, my fat headed idiot of a dog, 'may' have swallowed a Lolly Ice ('Ice Lolly' for none Scousers!) stick, whole...! Tracy had given my 3 year old daughter Lilly-May, who was having a ball in the paddling pool all day, a Lolly Ice. A little later Tracy asked had
  24. As Ray said, still a big daft pup and those Ali's seem to carry their puppy fat/shape longer than many breeds. Anyone doubting that this dog will take shape ain't seen that many raw boned, junk yard Alsatians and Buck is half greyhound. How he shapes up in the field will be a different matter but he's had a good start and one of the best blokes to get the most out of him.... Best of luck Ray...
