  2. Oop's so he did...! Well then i gotta disagree with the learned gentleman. Them 'ol blue eyes, not to mention clear eyes and black eyes made the nasty buisness of lamping hares, on Altcar estate, much more fun... And certainly cut down on car and motorbike crime!
  3. I'd agree with JD, Blue eye's were the best lamps ever to hit the market, never mind the numbers! The jump from using car spotties to these was monumental.
  4. Great athlete, too young...
  5. I used to work on boats and have never felt sea sick no matter what sea state i've been on but i sympathise with those that do, its a nasty thing for sure. My problem is that i am a sympathy spewer and if i see people wretch, smell or see spew or even think about it long enough, i'll spew me ring up. Last time i was on that ferry the smell was near the death of me..!
  6. Great stuff Andy, fair play to ya for getting over there and going for it. Good write up.

  12. Walshie, unfortunatly we are both old enough to have only watched and know the good one.
  13. My Mrs is one of those organised birds. Before we had our daughter Christmas was sorted by September and all i had to do was get the tree and dec's out the loft. She has to run presents a bit later now we have a child but it's still done. On the first of November she done her list to Santa and it's now all bought an wrapped...
  14. My fist Lurcher was bred this way. Mid 70's, out of real rag dogs from when they put a bit of stride back in em by putting em back to Greyhounds. The biggest puppies were given away in the local boozers and one night, one came to our house. She was all a keen kid could ever want or need BUT i didn't have a clue and she was lucky she made 7 and by that time she'd severed the tendons in her back foot. Was split from ear to arse and her ribs stuck out all funny on one side... She was far too fast and keen for silly green kids but boy, she would kill anything that we put in front of her! She liv
  15. And I thought you were getting all personal Keith, by the very way you spelled my name in your posts..
  16. The reason it was brought into the post BOSSOM,is because that's exactly what its about ''debate''the fact that it has bin mentioned dozens of times about failed earth dogs being the best ratters, well there not.PLUMMERESQUE well that's a new one to me ,never mentioned a Plummer once in that post.however the earth dogs in question were a close friend of mine and i'm sure my dogs would be second rate to his in his chosen sport..ive worked many a dog on many a quarry and this article is about debate but not about comparing anything as a enjoy and respect all work done by all terriers in there cho
  17. I'm the same as Doubleya, in that although i have two lurchers (well, one an a half!) I only want to keep and work one. (My other is a bit old an broke!) I've never understood the need to keep many lurchers (or dogs for that matter!) But unfortunatly lots of folk are collectors and constantly want the next best thing. Foolisly thinking that you need a 'specialist' for different types of graft. Truth is that the poor dogs hardly get the graft, or attention, they deserve and one dog, if brought on right can do almost anything... The best thing about owning two lurchers is that they are company
  18. Gotta say, that your first post is bound to cause debate Keith and I would go as far as to say you wrote it so... If you didn't want to court controvesy then why bring earth work into your very Plummeresque post. It could stand on the merits of ratting and ratting terriers alone! To be honest i'm an 'each to their own' bloke and only the fact that earth work and ratting are both done by terriers (in the main!) draws any comparisons between the two. That said, I admire your enthusiasm for the game and admiration for the terrier. Keep posting, love the photo's.
