To be honest Doubleya, i like neither breed as they stand but if it was for rabbits ONLY i'd be happier with a DASH of both in the mix.

Antis Trying To Get Boxing Day Meet Banned From Local Town

I really don't think there is any type that can be called a 'specialist rabbit dog'. Almost any lurcher type can 'really turn it on', with the right owner getting the most from it. I do think this though, if i had the ground to do some serious numbers again, i'd be requiring two breeds, amongst others, in my rabbiting dog, whippet and saluki. A drop of each in the mix would have me feeling a whole lot more confident rearing my pup.

Preventing Poaching In The Uk

Well if you don't pull it off, remember that old saying... 'If ya cant beat em, join em'! -
There are those times when your dog's jumped in the back of your motor and in the dark you aint noticed that split or punctured ear. Your driving away and hear the dog shake itself, no problem there an you crack on. Then after another shake or so you fell a little sommat hit the back of your neck. And that feelin hits you in the belly and you pull over an race round to open the back, to which the interior light illuminates the back of your motor, looking like a scene from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.... It's times like that you soften your opinion on ear cropping!!

Is The Apbt The True Bulldog Or A Terrier Cross?
Bosun11 replied to DogFox123's topic in General Talk
I think it's sad that our country turned its back on a breed that is the epitome of courage. Instead we look at the British Bulldog has our mascot, I suppose that breed fits perfectly with the way our country is these days.... I just think it's sad that they became popular with the general public full stop! And the wheaten ? Not a popular general public breed yet, thank feck! Don't think they look hard an chavvey enough for street corners! Though they are getting popular with lurcher lads at the min, so no doubt ten ton of shite will be getting bred, what can ya do though, just the way of -
I know a lot of old dog men didn't see the point in cropping ears because at the end of the day you'd rather it's opponent was hanging off its ear than another more vital area. I think it's a 100% cosmetic decision. Yes mate, your right, most real match men never done it but a fair few others did and for the reason i stated.

If Freddy still shows up on this thred, let us know what ya gonna do..??

Always remember, in the poorest of areas, shite food, sold cheap, will always make you money...

In most breeds its done for the look, the APBT's were cropped originaly because cut ears bleed like feck and that can weaken a dog when the chips are down but if they are just general backyard bulldogs then, like other breeds, it's just for looks... Sadly!

A very good post. And I quite agree. If you wanted to achieve similar now, I would say that as great as an article in a fieldsports publication is for targeting a certain section of society, in order to target the young folk we are talking about, a social media savvy approach would be best. You will get far more success via you tube, Facebook and twitter than any other way. It is a means to get to any kid anywhere, and promote your message 24/7. . . . wherever they are. But it needs doing well. Absolutley Jai, I'll be honest, how to get it out there... Well, plenty will know more than me -

Remember the Kevin Costner film 'Field of Dreams'? The quote in that was "Build it and they will come." For me it should be like that film for this undertaking and this is why... Forgive me Barrie if I use the Federation and i'm not accurate with my recolections but it's how I seen it all around me... Back in the 80's terrier work was seriously under the cosh, media sensations like the Cook Report and others had seen the once respected undertaking fast become the most vile thing a man could do! At that time, lets not shy away from it, terrier work was suffering badly from the element -
'88 you've seen matey. The video for G&R's Paradise City is filmed at that show.

Best yet...! Try '84 or'88

Lot of bulldog owners kennel their dogs this way over there. I think it works for them in some states where there may be a snake or bug problem but in general them yanks like puttin dogs in rabbit hutches! They look cold, cramped, un-hygenic and as been said could prove a problem with toes and slats. I guess some fat arsed yanks are too lazy to bend an shovel shite! Nah, not for me.

As it stands right now, i both welcome and will join any club set up to promote the 'working' lurcher. But the CA will not get a penny off me until i believe, through what i can directly see, that they are doing 'everything' in their power to promote the working lurcher.
