Shaving can/does make the coat softer.
Them furminators are good for raking out thick dead undercoat too for anyone with thick coated dogs that suffer in the heat.

If you've already got the dog it'd be a shame to not take it along with you, it might not be any good but a bit of hunting will be a mile better for the dog than a round the block walk.

I would imagine though when it gets down to 1/8th though it's barely noticeable, these half crosses I saw regular were staffy sized with a broken coat and docked tails.

I know mate but it's not right at a working show, there's people with one for every class and you know they've never worked and would get passed on if they had show faults. If they're that into showing why not just go the kc show route?
