Not even got a lurcher now and I'm glad because there's no point killing the last couple of rabbits on a place is there and it's not fair keeping one with nothing to run.
I've seen loads of posts on forums and facebook of people saying they've ferreted all day and only caught 1 or 2 in places they used to get good numbers and rabbits out of every warren and I don't know about you but I'd pack up and leave rather than searching for the last 2 to kill.
F1s are all black as little pups I'm assured and all rough coated. Breed 2 together and you end up with allsorts.
Most beddy whippet pups advertised are multi coloured collie marked and up 20+ inch tts.
If you watch the work that goes in to one of the good hand made knives you'll see why they cost so much. Too much for me to abuse or lose anyway so I'll stick to my opinels.
I saw a video of a bloke at clitheroe auctions with a cage full of them for 60 quid each and they seemed tame ish. At 60 quid though they'll be getting dumped all over when people realise how tricky they are to keep.
A lad I knew used a first cross gwp x greyhound out on the marsh and out on the shoots aswell as working to longnets, lamping etc. I think he wrote an article in the edrd about her.
Give it another couple of months to let the cover die back and the pup to mature then take it places there's rats. Get it chasing toys, rags, fox tails etc on a string while your waiting.
Same round here, they really do just disappear. The odd survivors need leaving alone to breed but the mongs can't help themselves and catch the last couple.
