  1. With all the AI etc going on now then surely the "real deal" blood wouldn't be too hard to get hold of now?
  2. It sounds to me like the saluki was just playing (a bit too rough) and the smaller dog retaliated? Did the saluki shake the smaller dog or just pin him and did he try and follow it through when you broke them up?
  3. I've never owned one but there used to be an old guy came on our local shoot with golden retrievers and they did alright but they were working bred and were a lot racier and a darker colour than the majority you see.
  4. I use the red band and their miles better than theraband imo. Nicer to shoot and last a lot longer.
  5. Just seen my first one here, the shellduck have been here a few weeks now sniffing around the rabbit holes and the egrets were here all winter but have vanished now.
  6. Well I got given my father in laws spares which was 4 hens and 1 cock and after a bit of scrounging and swapping I've now got 3 pairs of canaries in the shed, one of which knocked up a nest today so I should have some young soon.
  7. I had to cover my aviary with the green windbreak netting they use round garden centres etc couldnt see the birds and it looked shit so was a waste of time having them in it. Their safer in the shed. I had a mule knocked off the wall and then snatched from above my head as his cage smashed open on the floor by a male spar last summer.
  8. My old whippet wouldn't go on the lawn if it had been raining but would jump into a drain after a rat and it was a shivering wreck if we were out and it pissed down, hiding behind my legs, trees etc.
  9. Just thought this might be of interest to some of you guys.
  10. 4 sparrowhawks were flying above my house last week, looked like 2 pairs and the b*****ds have taken a shine to mine and my neighbours rollers. I can tell when there's one coming from the noise the sheppies make and so can my pigeons. Flying stoats zoom through our gardens every day and I stopped putting canaries in my aviary because of them scaring the life out of them.
  11. Collie greyhound, only 7 1/2 months at the mo.
  12. I managed to let my linnet cock out of the aviary last year and I was fecking gutted, he was a cracking steady bird who never shut up and was a brilliant muling bird. I thought I'd give him a break from muling so bought him a linnet hen to try and breed straight linnets and the vicous little sod scalped and killed her. It's a shame they won't colour up like the wild ones do but their still a lovely bird to me. I'll try again breeding them one day.
  13. I think your right there about the size, a dog under 22" just wouldn't catch much round here, my old dog at 22" caught more than smaller dogs I've owned/seen but he could have done with being a bit taller too imo. What type of ground are people having succes with their small dogs on?
  14. Just out of interest Joe have you ever caught a rabbit?
  15. Recall coming on with an eleven day old pup? Hahaha
  16. Domino pizzas and Stella mush and you'll be right.
  17. There's 2 types though for the showing isn't there, one has well marked cocks and nearly clear hens and the other has nicely marked hens and over marked cocks.
  18. I've got some rollers and a few pouters to keep me out of mischief for the summer and bringing my pup on too so I'm probably best off without little birds too this season.
  19. ,any reason why mate?. I got rid of my muling birds and crossbreeds with the intention of either getting some nice pairs of colour canaries or packing up completely. I enjoyed breeding the mules but didn't enjoy getting clear rounds, poor feeding hens and holding onto the young for what seems an eternity waiting for them to colour up and sing. I've not seen any suitable birds I can afford either so might give it a miss this season and see how I feel next time.
  20. On here they would post 25 "nice dog mate" s or welcome 25 new members and then stick an ad up.
  21. whats it got to do with the cops? thought they would have more important things to do than try to control what people eat!!!! Unless its a criminal offence to eat badger roadkill now!! seriously, loads of badgers and muntjac dead on the roads round here, not many foxes or rabbits though It's a criminal offence to touch s badger, dead or alive isn't it?
