  1. Good answer actually! But as he's actually posted in an air rifle catagory, let's assume he's without an FAC and needs an air rifle of proper quality. For £500. I would be going for a major spring rifle. Some genuine beauties for the money. AIR ARMS TX200 OR PROSPORT. WEIHRAUCH HW77. HW97K, HW80. HW95. HW98. HW99S/SANDWELL FIELD SPORTS IMP ( Heard good things about these.) There would be a bit of change left over too here. Or look at a mint quality, second hand PCP? Oops, didn't notice that. I just read 'proper rifle' and took it to mean powder burner. No offence to airg
  2. I've got an hw99s and its a cracking little lightweight. I don't think you'd be disappointed with one of those and easily better than an airsporter in my opinion.
  3. CZ 452 or a used Anschutz maybe?
  4. My airsporter 'S' model was poor. The walnut stock was very plain with horrible pressed in chequering, the accuracy was poor and power was 11 ft lbs with eley wasps but any other pellets I tried it was down to around 9ft lbs.
  5. Good shooting billy. Hitting 'em hard fella.
  6. Well done buster, shooting squirrels with an air rifle is one of my favourite shooting sports. Well done on the pigeons as well. Thanks for sharing.
  7. They are great little guns. I've got one in .22 but it's standard apart from the trigger. V-mach or similar is on the cards. That said, it's a fairly smooth shooter as it is. I'm well impressed for the price to be honest. I can't seem to put the thing down,lol....
  8. I've got some brown leghorn bantams, and they're up in the trees every night despite having their wings clipped. I've got a new pen to build, with a roof on this time.
  9. I don't like gerbils either....had two when I was a kid and they'd bite me as soon as look at me.
  10. Well, got this little weihrauch .22 and I've had all on to put the thing down. Now I've fitted an extra set back trigger it's made the little thing even better. If you're after a light weight springer I'd recommend one of these. Read about them being a bit low on power but mine's running at just under twelve, and consistent.
  11. I've found them useful in some situations. The 9mm floberts are a lot more capable than the .22's but if you already have a .22 rimfire they might be worth a try? I use cb caps as well.
  12. Superfield are 10.8 grains I think. They're readily available. My Theoben sirocco seems to work well with most .20 pellets. I've got 3500 champion .20's for it to digest. Should last a while.
  13. I can recommend RC 50's in #3 if your gun is ok for 3" magnums.
  14. Saw these loaves on offer so I bought them all. What a great deal.....
  15. Good shooting Rez. Nice looking rapid fella.
  16. Well, I tried RWS super-h-point and they grouped like a shotgun. Also didn't like superdomes, all on to hit a tin can at fifty yards. AA field 5.52 are spot on though, so I'm sticking with them.
  17. I had a .22 BSF B55 custom, that, after more recent research, turns out it was a venom and they only did about twenty of them. I really wish I still had that one. As for pcp's, I'm happy with my rapid, but I really fancy an FX cyclone in walnut. FAC model with three power settings at 12, 18 and 26 ft lbs. that would be a handy tool.
  18. You will lose power, no doubt about that. PCP's gain a good deal of their velocity through long barrels. You'll get a louder muzzle blast as well. More noise and less power, so be sure you really need it shortening before you go ahead.
  19. These fellas pretty much know what they're doing but they just don't like anybody using autos on any drive. I've got to respect that. When I'm out on my own or with a couple of mates, we'll mostly use autos for vermin etc. Thanks for the replies.
