  1. Get 'em shot Bry, overun with the things round here. I usually manage to whack at least one or two every time I'm out at the moment.
  2. I agree totally, I'd take my Beretta Xtreme, better tool for the job, but there you go. SXS will have to do..
  3. Thanks for the replies fellas. I would normally use my semi auto and magnum cartridges for this, but they aren't allowed on these fox drives we'll be doing. Just needed to know if the heavier 2:3/4 carts would be ok in my sxs. I'll get my shoulder pad ready then,lol......
  4. Thinking about fox drives where I can't use a semi auto, I'm wondering about the best carts to use in my SxS game gun. It's got 70mm/2:3/4 chambers, and the barrels are marked 850 Bares. I've got a selection of old 36 gram loads like alphamax etc, but I don't know if the pressure of these cartridges are within the pressure limits of my gun, or will it be ok with any lead loaded 2:3/4 inch cartrides regardless of the load? Are higher pressure cartridges restricted 3 inch and above? Question is, recoil aside, will alphamax and similar be ok?
  5. I've used both, but at sub twelve ft lbs over the last twenty odd years, I've used .20 the most in the form of my theoben sirocco carbine.
  6. Good write up billy. Squirrel bashing is nearly my favourite pastime.
  7. Can you take a few pics when you've got them in situ? Will be interesting to see them set up. Hope you get some good results fella.
  8. Hope you have a good time Mac. Is there a lot of difference in handling with the scorpion and the ultra?
  9. I don't even think the PG tips monkeys would risk that for a cuppa?
  10. Hmm, I didn't realise that. I probably wouldn't go for that then. I used to like the old German stuff like BSF, Feinwerkbau, Weihrauch's etc. Ahhhh BSF now you are talking, it still makes me go all misty eyed, when I think about my tuned BSF b55 Bavaria I had in the 80s, if there is one air rifle I wish I had never sold, that is the one, I killed dozens and dozens of squirrels, pigeons, and a good few bunnies with that rifle, I would buy one tomorrow if it came up. Those BSF's were well engineered. I had a custom B55 and sold it in the early nineties to help fund a Theoben sirocco, which I
  11. Looks awful to me, no way I'd spend that much on an air rifle anyway. I'll stick with the rapid I reckon. Just my opinion.....
  12. Hmm, I didn't realise that. I probably wouldn't go for that then. I used to like the old German stuff like BSF, Feinwerkbau, Weihrauch's etc. I don't think you can hold the fact that it's made in China against it. So much is these days, after all ! My first rifle was a Stoeger - I may be wrong on the exact details, but it's something like made in Turkey, to a Chinese design while Stoeger itself is owned by Benelli which is in turn owned by Beretta. (Confused ? Me too !) True, Chinese made stuff is probably a lot better than it used to be. I've got a Chinese co2 gas rifle and for the price

  14. I used a hammerli side lever in the seventies. It was well made but not very powerful. The new ones a probably good if they come from the same factory?
  15. Good shooting billy, 16 squizzers is a good bag with an airgun fella. I've hardly had that many in one bag with my semi auto shotgun on a squirrel bashing mission. Very well done fella, and more rewarding to shoot them with an air rifle. Hat off to ya!
  16. Good shooting blatter, what rifle was you using?
  17. Well done moxy, you did well in the time you had.
  18. Beware a lot of Rapids have been butchered by back street tuners. .177 is probably less likely to have been messed with because the calibre doesn't lend itself to high power like the .22 version. Front scope mount bolt hole can be prone to stripping its thread from heavy handed over tightening, as this has to be removed to accesss the barrel locator. Rapids are relatively easy to strip and service and their solid engineering means that they should keep on working. A fairly safe buy, but look for evidence of butchery by looking at the condition of fixings like chavled screw heads etc. these can
  19. You not happy with the v mach kit that was in your 99 Kriss? Have you gone back to standard set up?
  20. Well done billy, good shooting
