    Not trying to wind anyone up ,but what makes a rabbit dog, a rabbit dog (other than the fact they catch rabbits) Where do you draw the line between a rabbiting dog and a regular lurcher. Is it size ? I'd have thought a lurcher is a rabbit dog regardless of size , and maybe it's the owner that chooses what game to run it on ?

    I think a dog in its first season is usually show a lot of promise as everything is new and their youthful exuberance can give false readings ,judging when to lay off is the hard bit when they are doing well and wanting more. Some dogs just don't have the same ire and settle in to there (from then on) groove . Maybe just settling down . But as said every time a dog goes out, they can perform differently , they are flesh and bone with their own mind. Then I suppose some stick their middle toe up and say f**k this,this ain't for me.

    A 12 month old dog is just learning what it has to do. "Testing" should come when they are accomplished in their trade . Imho If you mean trying it out fair enough ,but testing ,as in pushing to see what the dog has in the heart ,should come a fair bit later than 12 months. Keep it winning

    Yea wild Bill sorry to hear about Connie . Shame as this would have been her season to show you what you really had. That's the 2nd to have gone in a similar way . But you slip 'em and take a gamble.

    Agree with pretty much all you have said ....except ,if the deerhound now is as f****d as they say it is ,why bother using one to start with ,unless it's just the look or type they want. If that is the case use a deerhound cross that's proven rather than start from square one. But most the time folk get a retired Greyhound ,look what's fetching the most ,then throw something over it .

    Mush....it seems more of a party atmosphere ATM ,with bottles of bubbly etc but ,as you say if they send the mossa in heavy handed I should imagine the crowd will turn ugly

    I'm over there now and one hotel had loud speakers on with the voting in the Catalan parliament, seems they will soon find out how determined Madrid is to hold on to its industrial heartland , hope it passes over peacefully one way or the other

    Had his breeding written down ,but lost it years back, mainly dai Jones and a bit if Gould I think. No world beater but reliable enough ,and could dig to him every week , must be near 12 now though

    Most are are private affairs but public can go to big ones, pay tickets etc rather like coursing was over here. Each area has its own club with local competitions that lead n to national events bit mostly its just people getting out there with their dogs. Thanks sandy ,just the excuse I need for a winter break ,nightmare trying to find any info though.
