  1. Bill I can't really understand 1/2 of what you said there mate. But I'll have a shot I get the feeling you are saying I bred from sub standard stock,I won't get drawn into a dick measuring competition. I bred of a bitch that was 8 year old and done everything a bull cross is expected to single handed. I have always said self-praise is no praise at all. I am critical of any dog I keep ,to a fault at times ,so ask lads who have had pups off me to give a fair appraisal. I won't big up dogs ,and it tends to come across as I am unhappy. For what I do ,they suffice. Am I saying he
  2. Also bill I don't think adding coursing dog to a lurcher is a fix all solution I tried it ,the litter are all fair and decent . The ones that have more time spent on them have showed most promise. Would I do it again ,maybe not... hence me giving ray the advice early on .....use someone else's hard work and buy a pup off parents that do what you want and have done so for generations. And where you'd own both in a heart beat.
  3. Yes bill I know what Johns pup could do ,a friend has seen it run many times. Regarding bull coursing types .....they do ok for what they are but mine is in no way a world beater. Regarding reds per session I don't know what you are referring to . How many cinema ?.... The rest I wouldn't respond to on an open forum . The litter I bred, their feet are good ,they have enough brain to run and not enough to think about not running ,which does me. I haven't decried a type ,I just said adding a pure malinois to buck might not suit many , and knowing ray I don't thin
  4. Sorry to hear about the broom ,but don't pay extortionate prices for a new one ,especially when emotions are running high. I always find the best come for little money or nowt . I took mine from a site labourer that was careless and not looking after his the way he should have been. I think I done it a favour . Chin up pal I'm sure some one in the game may be along soon and will help you out maybe a council road sweeper that has only leaned on his a short while.
  5. But surely buck to a malinois would be slower than buck. When you mention malinois crosses catching hares ,they'd be at near 1/2 greyhound ,theses would be a 1/4 . Reverse crosses may be ideal for some that want dogs to be a ferreters dog or a moocher but I'd say a step backwards for a lurcher ,generally, anyway. Of course they suit some and some will say they know a dog that does this or that ,but for the most part they would suit very few. Just my take on things
  6. I can't see what a reverse cross would do any better. Maybe make decent guards. For most they'd be a tad slow.
  7. Maybe in a few years time,if you want another dog ,a dog like Brynn might suit you,he seems a little less full on and smaller and easier to handle.
  8. Fair play Ray I hope at 66 I'm still capable thinking of my next dog. Be just my luck to be screaming at my carers to wipe my arse and thinking my kids are breaking in my house ?
  9. I'd use someone else's hard work and opt for a dog that does what you want, and has a few generations behind it doing that. Or just by a pup out of a breeding you fancy
  10. I like the sound of that litter a smaller one would be ideal
  11. Not seen one work ,but some of those gwp crosses look ideal for that type of work , have a decent jacket too
  12. Everyone makes mistakes early on ,you sound like you've learned from them ,some carry on making the same ones for years. Your dog sounds like it's had a great life and if asked I'm sure it wouldn't complain.
  13. I suppose the proof is in the pudding ...so to speak they seem to do some lads . Bulls of most discription have plenty of drive. I suppose the same can be said for adding bull to anything but is been done on numerous occasions including gundogs
  14. Nice and racy and plenty of leg Phil for a 1st cross, some seem to throw that way ,the bull crosses I've had or used in the past tended to go the same way
  15. pack look well jake ,the youngster has come on too
  16. always liked the look of them black & tan dogs of yours foxpack
  17. Nuts or no nuts ... he'll make a decent busher for someone, may be an advantage for someone with bitches
  18. If the stopper bone is broken it can be serious though
  19. meek does know his stuff i agree....but,he told me mine could be finished ,with a hock injury ,but pulled through, so you are doing the right thing getting an X-ray. it may be treatable
  20. i bet that made your eyes water?
