Black poplar has a dark central (heartwood) area - I have never seen one like this (bark) Field maple is much less roughly textured - I'd go with Norway Maple although some NM bark is very regular and unlike the enclosed photo.

They increase the 'time of concentration' of rainfall come serious storms, by making dams.This reduces the severity of flooding by allowing time for floods to dissipate. This, in turn, leads some to believe they are GOOD for the environment. I personally feel a little more study is needed and, by the way when did they disappear from UK? Have we had serious problems with flooding up until recently ? Is it possible for Walkers to make beaver flavoured crisps ? Thats the only way they will catch on.

Walshie, I have a Remington .223 varmint barrelled and the load I use is Vit 133, 26.0 grains with a 40 grain Vmax, pushing 3700 ft/sec it is a very reliable load after much testing. I have shot foxes at 230 yds without too much trouble - zero at 150 . MINUS 1" at 200 -4" at 300 works for me and its not scarily hot. You might want to try it. groups at 2" off sticks in the field. Until recently when expanding ammo was deregulated from section 5, bullets were counted as rounds - now you can have as many bullets as you like as long as they arent made up. No restriction on weight of powder unless its black powder, which is subject to explosives licensing over 5 kg. So, as many primers as you like as many bullets and powder as you like, (excepting black powder). Do NOT, as you have said, exceed your permitted rounds total in any calibre. I dont see why its so bad personally but you WILL lose your guns if found to exceed the permitted number in any calibre. Rounds

I use both a .223 and a .17hornet with NV. I tend to use a caller and a light with the .223. The hornet, on a still night I just walk or sit in a high seat.With Nv they are never going to hear what killed them and the crack is confusing an infra -red torch lights it all perfectly but I tend to dial down the brighnes or you can get a 'sunshine eye' effect. I once shot 3 foxes at 230 yds one after the other - 40 grain v max. Drop for both is similar -sight at 150 (0). 200 --1" (4 clicks) and at 300 9" drop 36 clicks. Its a bit of a shame this lost its way. I think the OP has a very good point it is impossible to know a womans mind as they themselves often dont know what they want. Often they will allude to something and expect a man to grab it with both hands, often to a bloke this is a confusing signal - we have all had the experience. I must admit that Jack Ruby's explanation of why he shot the assassin always troubled me. Who kills someone in such a situation to avoid the guy's wife having 'to go through the ordeal of a trial'. So unusual and convenient in fact, that it actually looks like a part of or a cover-up itself. It would be interesting to hear a biologically accurate description of a woman. When people who shoot get as many RIGHTS as 'women' with beards then I for one will recognise their RIGHTS. I agree with the OP wholeheartedly - it really is political correctness gone to its lowest point yet.

I think the one thing which strikes most strongly is WHY documents were withheld ? The same with Dunblane - withheld. Who would stand to benefit ? Whatever your view each and everyone is entitled to it, without challenge where the process is legal. I have children and they are as cared for and cared about as much as many others - I still believe in abortion and would support anyones reason ed decisuion to undertake it. How many of you are women ? I'm not prone to be dictatorial but its a woman's choice as Scothunter has said. There are many situations which would justify this to even the most hardened pro-lifer. Whatever anyone says its a woman's choice in my view and to call anyone a slag because they choose an abortion after all their maternal instincts is more sacrilegious. I seem to remember a programme which suggested a tsunami of major proportions might be triggered by a inordinately large volume rockfall which might be triggered by a volcanic eruption/ major earthquake in the Canaries. I just hope the author(s) is/are made to write a million lines of " I mustn't lie to the public again" , if it fails to happen. It would be heartwarming to see some consequence for these 'portent of doom' authors, Perhaps a public flogging ?

It is also quite true that the 'elite' schools which provided a high proportion of our politicos, were all boys schools where 'fagging' was common. Basically as an older pupil you could abuse younger ones - there was even an expectation of abuse in new pupils. I knew a guy who attended a boarding public school and expected to be b******* senseless - a phrase used by others. It is therefore not surprising but still appalling that those in the political elite saw 'nothing wrong' with abuse, certainly of boys, it was simply an extension of what they saw as 'normal'.

She knew about allegations but not that they might have been true, perhaps it would have been an act of conviction not to award ? I and many others would have acted very differently with HINDSIGHT - a wonderful thing. It does however seem that what we now regard as pedophilia was more tolerated/ignored there was also lots of occurrences of incest which would now result in social services intervention. The really worrying thing is if there was an acceptance and a blind eye turned at the highest levels - that would strongly point to a sick political culture of superiority.

I just made out the plough in the low cloud - lots of twinkling stars as higher cloud passed over - couldnt see any meteors with my NV either. Is there another in my lifetime I wonder?

So those who shoot next to you are hardly shoot gentlemen - bit of night work required. I really dislike ungentlemanly behaviour almost as much as poaching. We use bird puller and I think that once you use it, its hard not to continue - TBH I dont think theres a difference - as said before by Joe, my order of priorities is; cover, water, feed, quiet and regular dogging in (daily). Dont use diesel on their feeders its like pointing at your self and saying 'I did it'. Better their roost is disturbed. I'd consider a feed ride away from the boundary fed well and regularly or auto feeders
