Its so vast out there you would think there has to be some thing living some where
  4. Personally I would pick up a little 25 yard 4z net. That won't take up much space and would be easy to handle to start with. Depending on your ground you got to keep in mind lugging stuff about I would have a chat with this fella as he seems highly recommended http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/user/79188-nels0n/
  5. if you want a nice one I would give gaffer a shout
  6. I was thinking that. A right slice of heaven there
  7. I had my jill spayed and that went well no issues and is great during the summer. But typical I find her a great little worker and a good ferret in general
  8. When he is in one peace which is about 1 week in the year he can motor and has a great take off the dirt really flies behind him
  9. I did notice if the rabbit tries to bolt and the dog is in front of the hole and it goes back down the dog soon learns to be a bit sly and either not move or stand back a bit. I have often seen a stalemate where the rabbit is sat in the entrance and the dog is froze to the spot peeping at you out of the corner of its eye and peeping back at the rabbit. All exciting stuff
  10. sounds like some very annoyed farmers. If they hadnt been upset it wouldn't have escalated by the sound of it
  11. I would go for a couple of 50 yarders for ease of use and flexibility
  12. I hear this all the time, and seen it not that often. How many actual catches does a dog make after the prey makes it through a fence? Less than most! (I’m not talking about red ones). The biggest problem we have here is 99% of the fences are 2-3 strand barb on top, any dog can jump a fence, It’s when they are tired or carrying prey back it can become risky. I don’t lift my dogs over fences, and they jump them all the time, I just discourage them from jumping when chasing. Each to their own I wish you A.T.B PS Zip is looking better today she will be fine. I agree Doug around he
  13. collie grey x bull grey ? Thats what I have he has a bit of every thing. No idiot for sure and good around the nets with a superb nose any issues with him have been 99.9% my fault and nothing to do with ferreting but there you go. Live and learn Coming on well with age now
  14. Yes never taught mine but unfortunately if his after some thing he will go for it. Quite happy to lift him over stuff and its a bit safer. Saying that a few weeks ago I was lifting him over a gate like we have done a thousand times and as I lowered him he struggled because he caught fresh scent and he tipped sideways out of my arms. Came down with a hell of a whack on his shoulder. Now not much stops him on a fresh scent but he could hardly stand up for a while and he was in a lot of pain. I felt like shite about that Sure zip will be zooming around in no time Doug and as you say sounds li
  15. I noticed with our cocker just messing about he loved be asked to do stuff. So when he shot off call him back and show him a bush to check out he thought it was great and repeat lol. Mad little sod great waste of a dog he would have loved a working life crazy though he is on another notes its taken 3 years for my lurcher to really change and his getting better and better
  16. my pet cocker is ten and he is still a 100mph lol
  17. same here christ I even set fox snares on the side of the main road. Probably not the best idea going though but no one cared. When we had heavy snow one year couple fellas just strolling up the main road blasting pigeons. Slowly but surely we are sinking
  18. Good luck getting in our bloody attic full of junk break his neck and fall through ceiling then get pounced on by the dog
  19. Lucky sod not had a pheasant for a couple of years they are not that abundant around here. Put the odd one up but its a rare event
  20. Its the principle of the thing. They won't monitor it 24/ 7 just if there is a problem they can then check out what you have been upto which would be too late
  21. cheers folks he puts dinner on the table saying that his on sick AGAIN lol. We nipped out sunday night just one run and one rabbit. Perfect little run it was. Quite a big field and a the rabbit was right in the distance squatting. I new it would come my way so sent the dog off. He went up the beam half speed keeping his eyes open. But went to one side of the rabbit. Then he stopped swung around and just stood there checking the beam out. I gave a little whistle and he started edging back my way and then he spotted it. Rabbit took off full tilt down the slope towards me and the dog the sa
