  1. why dont you give them a ring? Its Nick Valentine isnt it. Have you got a number? someone will give it you or I can dig it out for you.
  2. Oh they will still sell to any idiot aswell,as long has you have £300 cash is doesnt matter who you are..I cut litters down myself, because I dont think its good for bitch or pup and Im not counting profit, but you have to be some cold b*****d to kill a whole litter of perfectly healthy big strong pups that are 4 or 5 months old that have learned to enjoy there existance.
  3. Its pretty obvious what happens...but that makes grim reading, bit of perspective perhaps Grim, yes thats it,puppy farms are grim.
  4. I took a mate years back to see a litter of 3/4 GREY 1/4 Beardie The litter was already 16 weeks but none sold. My mate wanted to have a think so we went home..A week or so later we popped over there with cash to get a dog pup. Mr Hancock was sorry but he had put the whole litter down because he couldnt justify there continued feeding.. Im not blaming him for that because has ive said hes a farmer trying to turn a profit, but dont forget when you lads are buying his stock that you are supporting that kind of practice..
  5. seen it so many times the little one catch up terriers and lurches thats what I mean mate,a little one aint a runt..a runt is a runt and its not just small but ill or deformed.
  6. People often call a little one a runt which I think is wrong. A runt is weak and feeble, sometimes deformed and should always be put down..
  7. sorry i missed this post before, but I think you are spot on about the lovell hewitt book. No bull shit or snobbery and not afraid of the kill word. Too many packs happy to piss about following a drag all day and tolerating shit hounds, and thats before the ban..
  8. Ive enquired about made dogs before and asked for a trial. Ive been told if i was giving a trial the dog would be worth 600/700 instead of the 250 Im asking. my answer was always I will gladly pay that amount in your hand at the end of a successful dig no problem. Its funny but ive never been taken up on it..the phone usually goes down or an excuse comes up..but over the years ive come to realise that buying a made dog is a bit of an empty victory anyway.. I know a proper working earth dog is as hard to come by as a derby winner, and some folk are lucky first time but i wasnt and myself and son
  9. Ive seen plenty of hancocks in action to know what there about, and it hasnt amounted to much. the older ones were better but a couple of years ago i seen one run around plough and then open up on a fox ha ha That was one of these beardie/border types..the nearest the farm has come to line breeding i believe..
  10. Worker to worker means feck all, apart from the fact that both parents were worked. It doesn't follow that all the pups will, or even be suitable for work. Plenty of working/coursing/racing champions etc in both dogs and horses, bred from parents which have never worked, coursed or raced prove it If you just want a few rabbits and you just buy in all your dogs thats fine, but if you want the line to go on then you need to get the best rootstock from the beginning, not a quick fix from the lurcher supermarket (hancocks) Theres a dog on here owned by BIRD I think. Thats a proper collie/grey
  11. good luck mate with that.. have you tried cleaning companies and bus and coach cleaning, just a thought because my mate got some of that. he says there always looking..
  12. worker to worker. That cannot happen at the Hancock kennel. It used to be a chicken farm until Edwina Curry shut it down so farmer Hancock turned to farming dogs..Its that simple.
  13. try giving some to the dog then mate!!! sorry
  14. Red mills racer plus contains a lot of maize which can give you the shites until the dog adjusts to it,but otherwise I think its a quality food. You should not supplement with meat but reduce the complete for whatever amount of meat you add. It will tell you on the bag how much that is.
  15. Ask the vet for a price. The dressing changes should be included.. A good vet likes to see the job after aswell so dont keep away imo but just make sure the dressing changes are not extra. Ive never known them to be and they shouldnt, a price is a price unless theres complications. I paid £160 about 3 years ago and that included 2 or 3 changes..
  16. Electrolites I use have a glucose base plus salts. I feed it in the dogs grub after work. The meal has plenty of moisture and fat in it. The dog usually then drinks after the meal.
  17. You should be able to make out pin bones on any running dog mate.
  18. feeding more meat wont put weight on the dog unless its getting enough carbohydrate. Often its the cheaper brands of ready food that put pounds on. Like said some dogs need more and some less. if the dogs too thin you keep increasing the amount it gets until its balanced with the amount of work. Gaining weight fast isnt good for work though.
  19. Thanks for the replies...very helpful
  20. You should always put LOL and the end of written humour otherwise its impossible to tell. See!I think you're right , I though people might get it from my sarcasm in my posts but apparently LOL is the way forward . Let's see if it works, have I ever said how much I admire your sensible and fair minded posts Jeemes ? Lol You may have done, how would I know?
