    Topper

Never met you Topper but youve done me a good turn before..All the best, get well soon.
  5. Well said mate...Also I won £10 with the bookies but I had to put 50 on to get it as the odds were 5 to 1 on. It will probably be the last time I get a tenner out of a jock so well done Scotland and long live Great Britain..
  6. Thats the trouble with Salmond, hes a YES man
  7. Again...just the dog,its breeding, age or whatever . Not interested in the owners decisions or what he did with the dog. Thats his business.
  8. I know what he means, wrists are wankers.
  9. it wasnt really the owner I was interested in just the breeding really.
  10. I saw a real Border/Lakie which I thought was a pure Border, but that man who owned it told us it was a first cross Border x Lakey and the hardest dog he ever owned and retired at 5. The rest of his dogs were black.
  11. A few years ago this dog was at open stud. Anyone know the dog and it breeding? Was it KC and what was its full name? just curious ,a mate had its offspring years ago but no papers..
  12. the old bitch on another thread with two pups is what i think of as a border/lakey.
  13. half cross is best i think if you select the right ones. The more bull the cleverer the dog. day or night at any task except hare coursing. I used to keep 3/4 types but too much grey means too many injuries.
  14. Or you can just use surgical spirit which is mostly what that stuff will be I think, but you need to wait until the rawness has healed. Surgical spirit will toughen up the pads. To help the healing you do well to spray on some epsom salts twice a day for a week.
  15. If its long in the back it needs to be flexible because it has more body to move. A shorter backed dog can turn a ninety degree angle in a pipe quicker and easier than a long back. A shorter back can manouvre quicker and easier in a tight space ie oven, because its feet are in contact with the ground more often. Its the diffrence between a mini and a coach.. Big lorries need to be articulated to manovre round a tight corner but a short vehicle does not, thats why I say if a dog has a long back it needs to be flexible where a shorter backed one doesnt.. I dont think extremes of either are good
  16. Its needs to be flexible if its got a long back.
  17. Its the body between shoulders and hips. Dont gallop as good but better in a tight space than a dog with a long back. A short coupled dog should be quicker to manouvre.
  18. No business of the vets, he sounds a bit of a twat..some of them get a lot of work from rspca ..change to a more farming type and horse or Greyhound vet mate.. I wouldnt go back there..good luck
  19. I found a dead rabbit the other. No one else got permission. There wasnt a mark on it. I know it doesnt always show a wound if its shot with a hollow point but this rabbit still had rigamortice and had not long died. It was full grown but young and otherwise healthy..I thought VHD left blood in the ear..Am i wrong about that, is there other symptoms?
  20. Will the countryside alliance still represent Scotland.. Will hunting and shooting survive there with the Reds in charge?
  21. Its the language people use that changes attitudes, and the language we are hearing now on this thread and in magazines and books is that dogs that were created to go to ground that will not go to ground can still be seen has working dogs. It doesnt matter if you enjoy bushing or ratting. You will find out at some point that the dog you have will or will not go to ground and stay. If it does not then it can and should be known as a failed terrier ,and if its kept alive it should be seen to by the vet so its blood isnt spread..Anne Roslin Williams had it right I think in her Border terrier book
