  1. All Frank Sheardowns books are good or if you want some comedy aswell try DB Plummer, hes good..I find some books including Doherty and Plummer a bit braggy, but they are good for a story I suppose.

    Ger Mckenna.

A common sense dog man. Wont soon be forgot.
  3. What did he weigh? must of been 100lb plus?
  4. Nice gamble mate, and it paid off for you and the little Russell...Dads always right anyway they should know that by now!
  5. I also lost a good dog in a place I dug regularly and called a puppy spot. Its a hard call to predict what might happen before the terrier goes under, but I guess we all do it, which is fair enough based on past experiences at the place. I know of other places that look like very easy sandy places, but the holes lie under a layer of sandstone and you need bars to chip through it, it always takes a couple of hours toil, looks like a 5 min job! Thats it mate, and places out in fields that have been landscaped over by farmer and end up looking like small places but have lots of deep tube
  6. What do you expect when shes from Yorkshire not a lot
  7. I dont think there is any such thing as an easy earth unless you have done it a few times and with a dog that can push his game back..We recently did a three hole place that turned out a nightmare and 11 foot deep. It resulted in the loss of a good dog too. If you havnt dug it many times with different dogs you just cant know it enough to rate it as easy..
  8. All running dogs need intelligence.. they build up knowledge with experience and thats how they get better. I think a lot of people only see intelligence when a dog does tricks for them, but cleverness is more than that in a dog.
  9. you seem to have an opinion on most things that's for sure. hes got a lot on his plate.
  10. Pictures of working Borders look much the same as other Borders mate unless it has damage, and as we all know only tossas put that kind of picture up on public forums. No shit Sherlock .. Im sure you will have people lining up to help you out.

  12. should be ok I think, its only the worms that are a worry anyway.
  13. Bring the wife and a lamp...this lad thinks its a doggin forum.
  14. Be nice to see a picture of this dog. How good is he on the lamp, does he take big bags?
  15. All pups hunt up a bit dont they. They learn to stop it at night and do it in the day..but sometimes its useful for a dog to hunt up at night too.. I agree with you on a drizzle or light rain with some wind. Helps to keep dogs cool aswell I think.
  16. He might be on location making another epic rat video...Its a busy time of year for legends
  17. This would not be allowed on most forums. Someone comes on here to sell livestock that he owns and wants to dispose of and all we get is a lot of paranoid twats spouting there small minded opinions.. There are plenty of sections for opinion..This is the for sale section. Where are the interfering mods when needed.?
  18. Half cross bull or there abouts going to athletic type with very good feet. A bull terrier is hard to beat for intelligence stamina and guts. Greyhounds are clever dogs and also have a nose. Ive caught more mixed bags with Bullgreyhounds than with any other type.
  19. This country is full of kids who think they know it all but actually cannot take 6/7 days a week and yet still think they can handle keepering..All I can say is watch out because if the Poles get into it all you lazy little fuckers will be out for good.. Cant even get kids to pick spuds anymore. I took on about 10 scrotes last year and not one of them were worth a tenner a week..There are good kids about but are getting thinner on the ground by the minute..Winging is what most of them are good at..
  20. I know your mates sorted now but tbh if you get full litters to choose from then you are probably buying from a person who has bred for money. People who are breeding for good working stock are usually breeding for themselves and you will be offered the surplus what they dont want. I have had the last in the litter from this type of offering a few times and ended up with the best in the litter..
