  1. One of the carpenters that has been working with us, on a job in Poole, was shot twice in the head with plastic pellets. Don't know what sort of gun it was, wouldn't kill you, but it could have taken an eye out. He thinks it was some dick heads in a passing car.
  2. Somerset Gun Accesseries do the Hawke sport HD 3x9-40 for £44.95.
  3. http://<iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.c...yer_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The quality and reliability on the SX is sound, and it's cheaper.
  4. Agree. Never had a shot gun before and went out and bought an SX3. 28'' barrel, 31/2''chamber in the black composite. Paid £850 for it at Avalon Guns in Somerset. Gave me a nice gun slip and a cleaning kit for free as well. I had tried a non auto and the thing kicked like a mule. I don't even notice the kick back on the SX3. I love it, even went to mole valley and bought a clay thrower and some clays. Had great fun on the weekend.

  6. I have an S410 in .22. Love it to bits. Got 3 mags, which is plenty of shooting with not much refilling of pellets.
  7. Call Julian at Starlight. They make them so if anyone will know....
  8. Why not get a pump???. I use a pump and they are not hard to use. I only weigh 12 staone and have no problems with it. It's a FX 4 STAGE PUMP, it's called a Turbo pump and goes to 270 bar. Saves haveing to travel to get bottles refilled.
  9. Bought them today. They work fine just as ear defenders, but need 2 AA batteries for the electronics to work. Put the batteries in and they seem OK. There is a small on/off dial on the side that also increases the volume. You can hear crows and jackdows that are up in the trees, but as there is only one microphone they only work in mono, so you don't get a sense of direction. When you pull the trigger the little speakers inside the head phones cut out. The battery compartment is a bit crap as one of the batteries kept falling out of the holder and i had to put a bit of tape over it to keep it
  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byChkCfZqbE&feature=player_detailpage#t=6s I know it's not a manual, but it is balls to the wall awesome shooting.
  11. Is it the U Caller you're thinking of?.http://<iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.c...yer_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  12. Lifes a bitch and you meet a few on the way. Like my Grandmother used to say ''It's better to be pis*ed off than pis*ed on!'', and Grandad would wisper ''All depends on who's doing the pis*ing! *wink*''.
  13. What are we talking about money wise?. And where did you buy them from?.
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCx7XGkuLfk&feature=player_detailpage This bloke shows you how to blow a crow caller correctly. Mkaes all the difference.

  16. I see Tool Station do a pair of ear defenders made by Silverline that are electronic. They let normal sound throuigh but cut out with anything over 80db. They're only £20. Probably a load of rubbish, but I'm going to try them. If they're no good for shooting I'll use them at work.
  17. In the Shooting Sports section of the forums there is a dedicated Night Vision section. If you post in there you will get a much better response. I have a Pulsar N550 which sits in the spare bedroom gaining dust. I also have a Starlight Archer add on, gen 3, with a fire fly laser that i love to bits. The Pulsar eats batteries while the Starlight will run for 60(ish) hours on one battery, a CR123's.
  18. I know for a FACT that one person that was awarded 'mole catcher of the month', and was then on the TV, Radio and in the papers, made it up so he could get free advertising for his pest control. I said that was a bit off and he said ''It's bull sh*t, it's all bull sh*t....LIFE'S bull sh*t!''. So now i say, pics or it didn't happen.
  19. Took my a while to sus he shot some blokes balls off!
  20. Was out today after Magpies. I could hear lots of them at the end of the Mother in laws garden. I put my little foam ear plugs in and slowly sneaked my way down to the end of the garden. The problem i had was, although i could just about hear the magpies, i had no idea where abouts they actually were. It's the ear plugs, they just seem to good at cancelling out the sound, so much so that I lose the sense of sound direction. I have been looking at electronic hearing protection, sounds very good, but it costs lots of money. The other ear protection that i might try is the Napier Pro9 ear defende
  21. Yeah mines the same. I was showing it to the Brother in law and the Sister in law says ''It's plastic'', i said composite, she said ''plastic'', i said composite, she said.......and so it went on.
  22. Everytime i fired it i would set the safety, meaning i couldn't just shoot again. I just use it as it came, straight out the box, seems OK. Only shot at 2 jackdows so far, and killed both of them. I also put some targets out and seem to be able to hit them OK too. At some point I'm going to have an afternoon at Southern Counties shooting ground Nr Dorchester .
  23. You can shoot a dog worrying sheep, so why not a cat, pet or feral, for worrying chickens?.
  24. We have 2 fields that are opposite each other and i have to walk about 60rds up the road to get from one gate to the other. There is very little traffic where i live and nearly all that is local cars with country types in them. Yet i still put any gun I'm carrying with me in a gun slip. It only takes one hyper tourist with an over active imagination, and an eager phone finger, to really turn a good day very, VERY, bad. Why take the risk?, bag it.
  25. Between your two posts i managed to do it . One thing you do have to do is give the safety a little tap to get it out. I used a small piece of wood so as not to dent or damage it, but apart from that it was no problem. I'm only back for the night, and gone again in the morning, but when i get back on Friday i won't have to worry about sorting it out. Cheers guys
