  1. Bought a Winchester SX3 on Saturday and i like it, does what it says on the tin. Thing is I'm a lefty shooter and the SX is a righty gun. The problem I'm having is that when i fire, the recoil is making me reset the safety every time, so when i go for the next shot i have to take the safety off AGAIN!. In the manual it says that to reverse the safety is a simple job, yet it doesn't tell you how to do it. I have stripped the gun right back as far as i can. I have the trigger guard out of the gun but am a bit unsure as to how you actually reverse the little safety button. Is there anyone out th
  2. I got a Winchester SX3 composite, a nice thick padded gun slip, a 12g cleaning kit and 250 29g No. 6 cartridges. Total came to £900 exactly. That was from Avalon Guns in Street Nr Glastonbury , Somerset. Came home and managed to fire it 6 times before it poured down with rain. I like it,,,,I like it a lot 8-)
  3. Been working away all week. Rang the wife on Wednesday and asked if i had any mail. ''Only one letter'' she said ''It's in a hand written brown envolope''. I tell her to go and get it and open it now..........''It's your shotgun certificate!''. It's Saturday tomorrow, so I'm off shopping
  4. What is the name of the shop?. If you say their name , and then they mess you about, it's not going to look good for them and people will not go there. If they act very well, and say give you moneys to, or, a better gun, then it will look very good for them and they will get business. How many of us on this site would knowingly go to a shop that has lost a customers gun, and then not given them reasonable compensation?. If it was my shop, i would ask you how much the gun and scope was all worth, give you that amount AND give you £50 as a sorry.
  5. If you are happy with the triggers that's good. But when i got both of my 452's i, like many others, found it a little heavy. With the trigger kits fitted they are both now so much nicer to shoot. If you go on Youtube you can see the kit being fitted by some one. Forget the name but it's on there Also check out the '452 floating barrel' video....interesting....: )
  6. I don't think you have anything to lose by calling. They are over stretched but if you are polite and ask if they have any idea when your ticket will be processed I'm sure it could help. I explained that if if took 8 weeks I would be on the middle of a shift pattern that meant I could not buy any guns until late September and mine came within 4 weeks. They are not bad people just over stretched so as long as you are understanding I'm sure most FEOs will be helpful. Rang them up and they said they got a huge back log. Could be 10-12 weeks. Still, I'm working away from tomorrow (Monday), so
  7. There a horrible cartridge to use in my personal view, not bad shot wise but the amount of crap that's left in the barrel after using them is unreal! I also found that they didnt have enough recoil to reset the trigger set to fire the next barrel Got me SGC on it's way and know very little about the 'shot gun' side of shooting, got it all to learn . I'll be keep clear of these then. Probably why thy are so cheap, they're crap.
  8. I just empty a whole tin of new pellets into the pocket of a dirty pair of jeans and put them in the washing basket. Next day the Wife says ''All these came out of your pockets'', and hands me squeaky clean pellets and loose change
  9. Kano Kroil is supposed to eat rust. It's excellent for getting nuts and bolts loose. Some people use it to put down the barrel.
  10. Have they had trigger kits fitted to them?, if not get them fitted. They don't cost very much and make soooooo much difference to how they shoot. The other thing i did with my 452's was make sure the barrels were floating well. On my 22lr a note would catch half way down and on the HMR if i hit the stock, the bit under the barrel, with the palm of my hand it would touch the barrel. Bit of sanding with the Dremel and it was sorted.
  11. Just found the card they sent me. The actual address they are holding the open weekend is Brook Bank ShootingGround, Brook Bank, Rodney Stoke, Cheddar, Somerset BS27 3UJ. 10am-5pm
  12. Was speaking to one of the guys at Sportsmans Gun Center in Exeter a while back and they didn't seem to think it was a problem, said lots of lefties shoot with a right hand gun. What you need to do is try before you buy. On 23rd and 24th June, Avalon Guns in Street Nr Glastonbury are having an open weekend. They got over 1000 guns on display and a try before you buy. I'm going to go down and look at some semi's my self. Thinking of a Winchester SX3 or a Beretta A300 Outlander....and I'm a leftie!
  13. Avon and Somerset have a massive back log. I applied for a SGC. I already have a FAC so the FAO said it wouldn't be a problem but he did say they had a back log of paper work. He said it would be about 6 weeks. I am now into the 7th week of waiting, Thinking about giving them a call, but if they have a back log there doesn't seem much point. Just gonna' have to be patient.
  14. Was in Mole Valley Farmers Saturday and picked up a price list for their cartridges.Cheapest in 28 load with 7.5 shot, 2 3/4 plastic wad is £4.32 for 25, with fiber wad £4.73.They are called Express English Sporter.
  15. You have to stick to what's on the General License . If you get caught shooting anything you shouldn't it looks bad for all shooters. Antis love that s**t.
  16. I have tried a plastic decoy and the egg trick but didn't get anything. I'll try again but move it around a bit, perhaps they didn't like the spot it was in
  17. Same here..between 5 and seven a day, I just keep moving trap's around and they just keep jumping in it. How you getting them to go in the trap?, you using a live bird?, fake birds nest? or what?. We go shit loads of the bloody things around here and I'm gonna' make a larsen and want to know what's the best 'bait'.
  18. For electronic anything, Google 'Maplins'.
  19. Best thing to do is give Julian a call at Starlight. One thing though, you don't want to be using an illuminated reticle when the Archer is on....it don't like it!.
  20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&list=HL1338146871&v=QfDoQwIAaXg This is a good video. It shows all sorts of bullets hitting steel plate, ballistic gel, pellets hitting glass and i think some other stuff. Check it out!.
  21. I have a FX pump and it's brilliant. I don't get why people say they are hard to use coz they're not. Had my S410 for 5 years now, always been filled by a pump, and i have never had any problems. So from me it's PUMP!.
  22. Don't try and up power on a £200 PCP. You'll be spending money on something to get it to do what it's not designed to do. Plus you'll need some way of getting air into it. If you use a pump on a FAC PCP you'll have to be filling it often as they don't give as many shots as a sub 12ftlb, and air tanks are more money again. Just add a bit of extra cash to your £200 and get a 22lr or save up lots and get a purpose built FAC PCP.
  23. If you go on to YOUTUBE and type 'corvus sam' in to the search bar you'll get the videos that corvus sam has put up. This guy is from Belgium and he makes crow and magpie callers. He has a demo vid of how to use his crow caller and there is a difference in the sound depending on how you blow it. I don't know if it will work with yours, but it shows you different ways to blow. I bought a MID caller (magpie in distress) off of him and it's bloody brilliant, take a look at the video of the MID caller, it really is this good.
