If i had the time to wake up enough to figure out what was going on, then get the keys to the gun cabinet, then take out the SX3, then load it, i would hold them there while the wife phoned the Police. If they made a run for it then just let them go, the danger has left. If they made a move on the wife, the dog or me, then i don't see what option i would have but to imobilise him/them. I think one thing that would put me off from shooting any one that was in my house, is the fact a 12G in a confined space is going to make you as deaf as a hedge, and i wouldn't want the wife, the dog or me to l

like talking to a brick wall ¡
PLEDGEY replied to GEOFF.223's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I have never cleaned my 452 and it's accurate. I have never cleaned my AA S410 air rifle either, and that's spot on as well. Was told if it's lead that goes down it don't clean it, if it's copper that goes down it clean it, so the HMR gets a good seeing too every now and then and that's spot on. -
First time rifle advice please ??
PLEDGEY replied to Bunny-Blaster's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I applied, and got, a 22lr and a 17 hmr, both CZ's, before i had my SGC, and i never had to have a mentor. For rabbits a 22 bolt is the tool for the job. If you really need to be shooting past a 100 yrds then the HMR is what you want. It'll also take out fox at sensible ranges. For ammunition apply to hold 600 rounds of each caliber. Then when you are down to your last hundred you can buy 500, aka a brick, of ammunition. My FAO asked why i wanted both, a 22 and a 17. I said so i could use the HMR in the day when the noise wouldn't be such an issue and the 22 at night with my night vision. Plus -
Winchester SX3 composite (posh word for plastic). Check the SX3 out on Youtube, it's spot on. Fires anything, even steel, comes with chokes, even yer granny could fire it

Right handed and left eye dominant

That's what i do. I'm right handed but shoot left handed. Even my CZ's with scopes are left handed. -

PLEDGEY replied to George Kinloch's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Google 'CZmags'. They don't sell them but they do deal with CZ and might be able to get hold of one or know where to get one.. No harm in sending them an Email. -
Quick question regarding my FAC
PLEDGEY replied to RobertoS86's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
What reason did you give for wanting a semi on an FAC instead of a SGC?. -
What is your budget?. You want a semi, s/s or a o/u?.
-
On the application form they want to know what convictions you have. I couldn't remember mine so i got a list of the ones that are on record. It cost £10. Then in the box where it said 'list convictions', on your FAC/SGC application form, i just put 'see atatched form'.
-
Join BASC. Then go on one of their awarness courses. If you can tell the FAO you have done this they will see you are serious about it.

My Winchester SX3 used to set the safety after the first shot. I'm left handed and the jolt would cause my finger to hit the safety. It would happen so fast that i didn;t even know it had done it untill the second shot. If you're a lefty this might be the reason. I have now changed the safety around and don't have te problem any longer.
-
Oh and dont forget the mentor they will insist on,remember the guy has no experience. I applied for my FAC before my SGC. They never asked or even mentioned a mentor and i got the .22lr and HMR that i asked for. I told him i was a BPCA pest controller, which i am, and that i had an air rifle so don't know if that made any difference.
-
If you have no convictions, and you are mentally sound, there should be no problem. The SGC should be simple enough. As for the FAC they will want to know why you want whatever caliber you are after, where you are going to shoot said caliber and can you store the gun and ammo safely. If you can satisfiy the FAO that you DO need it, you HAVE got permission for land and you CAN store it safely then there shouldn't be any problem, oh yeah, and 2 referees.

cleaning help please
PLEDGEY replied to M47KS_M4N_CH71S's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Had my S410 in .22 about 5 years, second hand when i got it, and it's NEVER been cleaned. It shoots as good as the day i got it. I don't clean my .22lr either and that shoots spot on also. My .17HMR is different, that gets cleaned when the grouping starts to go, but as for the rest, if the groups good, and you're killing consistantly, why clean?. -
Have you seen the Archer Starlight?.
-
Never had a problem with Hornady V-Max.
-
I have used recharables in pulsar n550, L 808 IR illuminator, Yukon monocular, Archer starlight, Firefly IR, Deben IR illuminator and never had a problem. The only problem you might get with rechargables is if you buy the cheap crap. Couple of times i have bought multiples of 10 or 20 batteries, thinking it was a good deal, but they turn out to be shite. They won't break your gear, they just won't charge or hold a charge for very long.

i use the vaccuuum cleaner to try get rid of powder. the spray wd40 down it then circle it around to make sure it gets every where inside the baffles then turn on end and stand it on radiator to dry. i do this to my t8. it stops it rusting as wd40 displaces water/moisture, every once in a while i use the brush for my rifle barrel. and give the baffles a good brushing out. Vaccuum cleaner!, that's a good idea. When i put the MOD back on i always wonder if some crap is going to fall back down the barrel, but a vaccuum would soirt that. The LEI is stainless so it's all right on the rust front.
-
One thing i don't like about the LEI on my 17 is you can't clean it. It's a sealed MOD. A fter I've been shooting i take it off and have to tap it on some thing hard, usually the tiles round the sink and this drives the wife nuts, to get any unspent powder residue type stuff out. Some times there's quite a bit. Does any one know a way to clean a sealed MOD????

derreelight night master 800 torch
PLEDGEY replied to GEOFF.223's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
I ordered the the nightmaster 800 by mistake on Sunday night and it turned up today (very fast delivery!). I rang a bloke called Tony and I'm going to have the battery extender, extra battery and the IR, which is what i meant to order in the first place delivered and pay the extra. He said i could send it back and exchange it but I'm not going to bother. I had it out in the field this evening and for its size it's bright as!. I used one the other night with the IR on my Archer. It's not that you see that further, it's that the picture you do see is so much clearer. Also the cross hairs on my M -

Off the shelf .204's shooting factory rounds.

Nice, good info! -
I would just Google 'Nuts and Bolts Cambridgeshire', I'm sure you'll get some hits for bolt suppliers in your area. Just take along the bolt that you need and they'll get you a replacement. As for the trigger, just get the trigger kit. Practically everyone that gets a CZ gets a trigger kit in the end, makes such a difference. You can find videos on Youtube to show you how to fit them, it's not hard. They cost around £12.
