  1. Can you still shoot Hooded Crows or are they off the menu now?.
  2. As long as it goes bang when you pull the trigger, and it throws shot out, i don't think you could go far wrong for the money.
  3. Always used Winchester subs. Thought i would give Eley a try. They were OK but i have gone back to Winchesters. Reason for going back, the Eleys had a smell i really didn't like. Any one else notice this?.
  4. I didn't know them, just noticed his DPM coat. The layby is very long with a large grassed area between it and the road. I just got the impression that they wanted people to see them , and they thought they looked cool as f£%k.
  5. Police and you would have had an armed response unit down there. Is it just me or does anyone else think it's totally uncool to be displaying fire arms, even if it is only air rifles, by the side of a main road while there is a large amount of traffic going by?.
  6. Driving home tonight in a transit van. Just pulled off the M5, J23, and am now coming down Puriton hill towards Silver fish. Going slowish because there's lots of traffic. My mate , who is in the passenger seat, says 'What's her problem?', woman passenger of the car in front is shaking the left shoulder of the driver while gesturing towards the large lay-by which is to our let. Then my mate goes 'FUGIN' ELL!, LOOKADEM 2 [BANNED TEXT] FUGIN' GUNS!!', he's from Essex. I look over to the lay-by and there are two blokes there. I know one of them had a DPM Camo jacket on but i was more trying to se
  7. Bloke at work said he had read that the cull was being done with 22LR, firing subs, MOD fitted, from a maximum of 30mtrs away from the set and in a high chair. He asked me if this was correct, i said i haven't got a clue, but it sounds plausible. I asked him what paper and he said he couldn't remember, it was one in someones van. Any one know if this is right?.......or rural myth!
  8. Why pay extra £'s when a 452 will do the same job.
  9. If you got rabbits there and you got a safe back stop, no footpaths etc then don't see why not.
  10. A couple of months ago fired 6/7 rounds, no problem, then 'CLICK'. Ejected a case with unburnt powder still in it, and there just inside the barrel was the bullet. Used my cleaning rod, which has a threaded female end, to push it out. The tip of the bullet fitted nicely in to the threaded end. Just gave it a couple of good hits with the palm of my hand. Have used all the other rounds with no problems, just one of those things.
  11. If you haven't got a pin punch you can use a small drill bit. Place the shaft end of the bit on the pin and tap it with a hammer. Be careful it doesn't break and fly up in yer eye.
  12. Give Bartletts a call. They are at junction 24 off of the M5 at Bridgwater. Market Way Bridgwater, Somerset TA6 6PP 01278 664568 Not saying they will have any, but they are extremely helpful and can get their hands on most things. They are also cheaper than Mole Valley and Country Wide Stores.
  13. Sell it on Ebay. It would have to be sent express delivery . You can buy squirrel tails, Jays wings, frozen moles, magpie feet, i tell ya, they'll buy any thing.
  14. Thats worth knowing, why is it that side focus is needed/better for night vision over one with no adjustment or having the adjustment on the end? Unless you have long arms, side focus is always better. It can also help with rangefinding. Agree with that. I got the Mamba lite which is even cheaper than the Mamba. My Archer N/V loves it.
  15. Section 9 of the Animals act 1971 provides that the owner of livestock, the landowner or anyone acting on behalf is entitled to shoot any dog if they believe it is the only reasonable way of stopping it worrying livestock. Such action must be reported to the Police within 48 hours. At the end of the day it's not the dogs fault but the piss poor owner and i would still be reluctant to shoot a dog as i like dogs more than some people i can think of. As for cats, as long as they are feral then they come under the Mammalian pest species.
  16. No problem at all. If you have a look in my Gallery you'll see the butt extension I've made. Excuse my ignorance but where is your gallery? I'm on phone so hard to navigate! What's the range like for spotting & usable the shooting range? With IR of course. No probs. Click on my Avatar, it'll take you to my profile and it's on the left hand side, just click on the 'Gallery' bit :-)

  18. If you have a S410 Xtra zeroed at 40 yards, what is the rise and fall, in inchs, from 25 yards out to, say, 70 yards?. Toying with the idea of getting one and would like to know what sort of trajectory you get with the extra power. Googled to see if i could find a trajectory chart but there doesn't seem to be one on the net. Cheers.
  19. The Archer is a brilliant piece of kit. You can use it as a spotter then just slip it on the scope and you're good to go. Use it with the 'Nightmaster 800 I/R', instead of the Firefly I/R laser that starlight sell, and the picture is a lot more clearer. It feels more natural to be looking down the Archer/scope combo than over the scope. Batteries last around 60 hours in the Archer, the Nightmaster batteries are rechargeable and seem to last about 2 to 3 hours. Starlight have a good name, and it's British.
  20. I'm starting to think that words like 'riddled', 'plagued' and 'over run' (i know, that's 2 words) mean 'hardly any'. I got permission to shoot a dairy farm that was , as i was told, infested with rats. First night i saw one bloody rat. Bloke in the garage near me said ' come and shoot these bloody rabbits, they're every where...............saw 2, you gotta' laugh .
  21. From the title i thought it was going to be a really strange recipe for Magpie and Rabbit stew!. Had my mouth watering for a moment.
  22. I would only be getting a 12G. Does the build quality seem as though it would last more than a season? Yeah, don't see why not. If it was a semi auto, with lots of moving parts, it might be different, but it's all proofed up. I mean, you put a cartridge in, pull trigger, pointy bit hits cartridge and shot shoots out the barrel. The finish isn't going to be as fine as a top notch gun, but that's why they are cheaper.
