  1. Technically Venison is any meat from a game animal, and a game animal is one that is hunted for food or sport. So a pheasant could be classed as venison.....technically.
  2. I like my SX 3 semi auto. I don't like the kick on non semis. They don't like them at the clay shoot cause you can't see if it's unloaded at a glance, not like you can with a broken barrel. The 3 shots is good for pigeons though.
  3. Drill some extra holes in the back of the cabinet. Then when it's fixed to the wall it won't come off even if someone does try and put a jack under it. All it would do is dent the bottom. I've got a total of 10 sleeve anchours in the back of mine and 4 pieces of threaded bar chemically fixed to the floor, it ain't goin' no where!. One tip, when you drill your holes in the wall to fix it, go right the way through in to the cavity. If you ever have to move the cabinet you can then just push the sleeve anchours/bolts in to the cavity rather than trying to cut them off once the nuts have been remo
  4. .410's, good mooching guns . That is probably the best desciption for a .410 :-)
  5. How much are you looking to spend. I use an Archer Starlight add on , Nightmaster 800I/R and a butt extender. It'll fit on any of my rifles without having to re-zero, like I have to with the Pulsar N550. Battery in the Archer, one C123, lasts 60 hours. Batteries in the Pulsar, well, it just eats them.
  6. Get a cricket ball and a ball of newspaper the same size as the cricket ball. Imagine the cricket ball is the .22 and the paper is the .177. Throw the cricket ball 40yards then see how much extra effort is needed to throw the paper the same distance.
  7. I would sell the .22 and then buy a .177. By the time you add in all the cost involved, and the time it would take, I it would be the best option......that's what I would do.
  8. I don't have the one you are talking about but I do have a Baikal Hushpower, some call it a Stealth. It's only a single barrel and has no ejector but it shoots fine. I point it at stuff I want dead and it does the job. I have never cleaned it and, to be honest, treat it like shit but have never had a problem. It's got a plastic stock, or composite if you want to be posh, and cost me £325 new just over 2 years ago. Considering the distance a 410 is shot at I can't see the point in spending big money on one. I use this more than any other gun, I love it.
  9. Join BASC!. You'll get loads of info off there site. If you're still not sure about something you can call them. You'll be insured for public and product liability. They'll help out if you ever have any problems with the Police. If you try for new permissions it's good to tell the land owner you have all of the above. I wouldn't be without my membership.
  10. I have shot rats, squirrels and magpies off of the bird table from the bathroom window of my Bungalow. That's with 2 1/2'' Eley Fourlongs in a Hushpower Baikal. I wouldn't even dream of trying it with the 12g SX 3.
  11. Got in touch with the FAO today. He said as far as he's concerned no one is to have access to my fire arms unless I'm present. He was a little concerned about what I had been told and is going to look in to it. I told him to get back to me if he got any new information on it. I'm just going to take a day off while he fixes the cabinet, it's an excuse for a day off :-)
  12. My gun cabinet won't open. Rang Brattonsound and they were great. Told me a locksmith would be in touch to arrange a date to fit a new lock. He rang tonight . Trouble is I'm working away all week and he only does 'office hours'. If it's outside 'office hours' he charges an extra £40 +VAT which I'll have to pick up. I told him that I'll have to wait as I can't be there in the day. He tells me that I don't have to be there and it'll be O.K. for him to have my cabinet open, and thus access to my guns, as he's a registered MLA locksmith. I was going to ask the FAO about it, but I know what he'll s
  13. Fitted mine myself ages ago. It went from heavy to 'shit, that's light :-)' It's more accurate and I like it!.
  14. I would be even more trusting of some one with SGC and FAC if they were child minding.
  15. So, did it ever arrive from America?????.
  16. For me Winchester subs are as quiet as my AirArms S410 air rifle. Where as HV's when, in the past, I've fired them sound more like my HMR. The other reason I don't use them is coz they are copper coated. I never clean my CZ 452 and it shoots true with subs. If you were to use HV's all the time you would have to clean it coz of the copper.
  17. RSPB accused of hypocrisy - Telegraph <-------click on. Not Merlins, but still interesting.
  18. I thought you had to quote your name and BPCA number to suppliers of chemicals that killed wasps like Ficam 'D'. That way only people that know what they are doing get their hands on the 'good stuff'.
  19. Was told by a bee keeper that a honey bee swarm is worth £150!. Might be worth trying to sell them on.
  20. I wear steel gauntlets and a Fireman's helmet. I paint them with Cuprinol so I'll blend in to the surroundings, naturally.
  21. Got a Starlight Archer and it had a Firefly I/R. Had same problem with the water marks. Switched for a Nightmaster 800I/R.The image is so much clearer.
  22. If it's one of these you'll be laughing.
  23. The trigger kit makes a big difference.
  24. Yep, mines going up for sale. Had about 4 jam in the barrel, loads of cracked cases and I find I use the .22lr more anyways. It's money sat ion the cabinet most of the time. Thinking of getting an AA S410 FAC air rifle instead. Cheap to run and loads of fun :-)
