Sell them as horse meat :-)

I use alarm mines. A long length of fishing line as a trip wire, that's conected to a spring loaded pin, that sets off a blank cartridge if it's tripped. If i have to leave one of the trucks in my field next to the house, with tools on it over night, it only takes 5 minutes to set a trip wire up around the truck. If some one sets it off it's just like a shot gun being fired. You'll hear it and the tea leaf wont hang around. I bought 10 from Henry Krank years ago. They are about £13 each now . Good on sheds too!.

A Good 177 Hollow Point?
PLEDGEY replied to jandcguns's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I used to say the same but the RWS hollows hit very hard. I shot a rat , about 9'' long from head to arse, from 12 yrds. An AA field would have gone through and might have given me a runner, the RWS just drops them dead, and that's aiming for the heart area not head shot. Past 25yrds and they suck ass, but for short distance rats i like 'um. As for points, never touch the things. -
AA Fields and RWS Hollow points for close stuff.

I wouldn't have thought it would be lampers, they wouldn't be able to find that many in the dark. It'll probably be some tree hugger that has found them while walking their dog or watched you set them. Get yourself a trail cam. Google 'LTL trail camera', that's the one i bought for £100 and it's the bollocks. It'll take pictures and/or video. It has a little screen on the back so you can watch on the camera. It's camo as well. I would also let the Police know, after all it is a crime.

I have had mine for about 4 years now, and it was second hand when i bought it. I have never cleaned the barrel and it shoots as good as the day i got it.

Everthing has its place. On this one farm there are rabbits that can be shot with the 22lr or the HMR, but there is one place where you can only shoot them with an air rifle due to possible ricochet damage.

A Good 177 Hollow Point?
PLEDGEY replied to jandcguns's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I like the RWS super hollow points, but only out to 20yrds, over that and they tumble. On rats you get a very nice 'THWACK' . On everything else i use AA Field Diablos. I'm putting them in an AAS410 in 22. -
I use a Mamba Lite on my Gen3 Archer and it's great. It has a good parallax that seems to work well with night vision. If in the future you need an I/R upgrade, go for the Dereelight 800IR. Use it on the Archer and a Pulsar N550 and it's the best I/R ive used.

Try 'MidwayUK'. I know they do them, but i don't know if they do one for a Savage. They sell Dewey bore guides and they make one for a Savage so they should be able to get hold of one. Give them a call.
-
I use a bore snake first, that shifts all the really heavy crap.
-
MidwayUK do a bore guide. 'HPS Target Rifles Ltd' have got stuff you didn't know you needed until you went on their site. For cleaning i use 'Wipe Out/Patch Out' and 'Carb Out' with proof positive Jag and brush. I'm sure i got the Jag and brush from HPS but i can't seem to find them on their site, give them a ring, they were very good and fast delivery. Patches i got off of Ebay, bought a shed load for £10 from a bloke in Canada, with delivery. This seems to work well for me. I put the gun away without the MOD fitted. If you tap the MOD you get unspent powder fall out of it. If it's left on th

I currently run a lot of different rifles from 12ft lb to .308 and shotguns. My FAC Air is a Falcon FN19 Skeleton, it runs between 25-26ft lb, depends on the time of year (yes, there is a little fluctuation from freezing to very hot) it has run on AA Field, assorted slightly lighter and Bisley Magnum. For me and my requirements it runs a treat on AA Fields 5.51 at 16g. Tell me it doesn't........... Squirrel3aa.edit.jpgImgp2401aar.jpg ATB! If you skinned all them you could then sew them together and make a big 'ol 'Pimp Daddy' full length coat :-)

I would second that. You put 4 guns in a 4 gun cabinet and it's very tight for space. If you got nice stocks you don't want to be knocking them or hitting the scopes.
-
I got 2 CZ452's. I found that when the stock was nice and tight against my cheek i was not looking directly down the scope, it didn't fit my face correctly. What i did was cut some insulation foam, which is sort of like expanding foam that has set, shape it and tape it to the cheek area of the stock. This has made a lot of difference, especially with the HMR. What i was doing before was mounting the gun then raising my head to look down the scope. This meant that every time i fired a shot i would be looking down the scope a little bit differently. Not too bad with the .22 but more noticable wi

I was going to buy one but what put me off wasn't the amount of people saying they were bad, but the lack of people that do own them saying they are good. I got a winchester SX3 in the end, it's really good gun.

Advice On Rifle Mounted Lamps Or Nv Route?
PLEDGEY replied to Deano88's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
The nightmarster 800 is a good one its light, good for for your 17hmr good in green or red led or if you want to stop with your sony handycam in nv for foxs or rabbits phone nite hunter is new ir laser is out of this world , I have one can see 500yrds like day light its up to you what your looking for I have the night master 800 with the white LED and it is well bright. You can use it for normal lamping. When you want to use the night vision you just change the white LED over for the I/R LED and away you go!. As an I/R this thing is clearer than the Firefy laser that comes with the Archer S -
I have 2 CZ 452's, one 22lr and a HMR, and would totally agree with Kenj. That is the best explanation i have heard. But if i had to put a rifle in the truck for those 'just in case' moments, it would be the 22.

Newbie To This Forum And Plenty Of Questions
PLEDGEY replied to turbodan22's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
you say you can use your rifles to kill anything on your license but i no a 17hmr and 22lr are not suitable to humanely kill deer and it is also against the law so that carnt be correct. it says i can humainly dispatch animals wich would obviously be a fox in a live trap. ive been paid for this sort of work on a chicken farm before but per fox. and as this fox has attacked a baby in a home although i personly think itl be a dog that there trying to protect from being put down.it got me thinking about pest control what i wanted to no was other than my firearms, insurance and equipment -
Which Semi-Auto Shotgun Has Softer Recoil?
PLEDGEY replied to IanS's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Years ago i broke my shoulder, the clavical, in 2 places. First time i shot a 12g i fired it about 30 times. It hurt on the day, but the next day it felt like i had been kicked by a mule. I now own a Winchester SX3. I don't have any problems at all with that. May be if i shoot a lot of clays it's a tad achy next day, but that's all. You could argue all day what semi auto is the best. At the end of the day any semi is gonna' be better for you and you have to go for what's in your price range. -
Learning Holdovers?
PLEDGEY replied to davethedood's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I put paper targets out at 15 to 50 yrds, at 5 yrds intervals. Zero at 30 yrds, so it hits smack on the cross hairs, then shoot at the other targets to get to know the different hold over, or hold under, that each different distance needs. I use an AirArms S410 in .22. I also have two CZ 452's, one .22lr the other a 17HMR. I use the same technique on these guns, i just use greater distance between targets. One of the most important things is to know distance, like how far away a target actually is. When walking down the road I'll try and guess how far it is to a lamp post. I'm pretty much spot -
An illuminator for Night Vision, is like a torch for human eyes at night. If you are in a field at night with a torch you can see. Turn the torch off and you can't see. It's the same, sort of (ish) with an infrared illuminator. The Night Vision sees when the IR illuminator is on. Turn it off and you can't see. Better the IR the further and clearer you see. If you have a full moon you don't need so much, or no, IR. But in the pitch black you need lots. This is just a ruff desciption of IR illumination before people start getting too picky.
