Deerhoundy,s were many,s dog of choice in the not to distant past,with good reason,they are certainly on the decline now and few of them possibly reflect their eminent past.I could readily source a decent working Deerhoundy less than 30 years ago,they were common and grafted,now they are far less common and take some beating if sourced right.

Many of us may have unintentionally upset the odd neighbour because of the unfortunate actions of our charges,often accidental.I take it for granted that you should have the common sense,decency and courage to manage these accidents in a manner that reflects well on the dog owner,as best as the situation allows.When you need to take more time on a computer bleating about the situation instead of dealing with it head on,then thats a fecking sad reflection on the moral stance that many lurcher owners now see as acceptable.Id have spent more time than the disgruntled neighbour seeking a resolutio

If it does id get another lurcher ,and learn to take on the responsibilities of lurcher ownership,1st lesson - lurcher chases and the owner follows,then takes the strife on the chin and not seek solace on a computer.At first light will you be the first up and out taking on your responsibilities?.

Id have been out searching with them,6ft is no boundary for a lurcher,especially intent on a neighbours moggy.The neighbours may be rightly indignant,its their fecking pet and no you won,t get done.Get out and assist their search you nugget,then learn to live with another unhappy neighbour,many of us do.

I also go out with the same pack (my dads pack ) , these dogs aren't your usual couple of squeaks and Come off scent , they'll go all day and never give up , have yet to see anything find like them or put so much pressure on their game in cover and very easy to keep in the kennel , have to say micks a great man to keep up with them in a van I could walk into any dog pound and walk out with a mongrel bred terrier residing their and educate it to become a more than useful mutt bushing and ratching about,as an earth dog it would be a gamble but for £40 id take me chances,id not gamble many,m

Possibly,the amount of times, on sites like this ,that more experienced lurcher owners advocate practice that may influence the youngsters getting into the game,an influence that,s often misguided,at best. influence mate, you might need it, but me, don't think so.. Im in awe,ive hunted for over 50 years,much of that time with lurchers and terriers,im still learning,well done Carradine

Time and effort in the field,the young tyro busher that is hardened to various scent and sight,time,after time,after time,should learn to act and hunt accordingly.Its often more difficult to curb and not encourage the instincts of a future busher.

An ideal mutt for a beginner is one that can bend and adapt to the novice owner and still hunt and catch,a mutt that can receive the wrong type of education and learn to ignore it and hunt instinctively.Id not want a Whippety more of a Collie infused tried and tested lineage,something possibly to good for the average novice that will educate the owner more than it,s educated.

Many a travelling lad stopped off in keighley on their way to the Horse Fair,to whet their windpipe and graze their mare.The amount of challenges thrown around the bar rooms was comical at times.A couple of brothers were well known for challenging every dog to a race,often a fiver an hare and a fight afterwards to satisfy the loser,with another fiver to the winner.I never,in over 10 years,knew them to own a dog or win a fight,good company though,until about 7 o,clock.

The Collie sales at Skipton Auction break records on a regular basis,i believe the buyer will be taking it back to Ireland.A local farmer owns a line of working Collies related to a previous record sale,if i had the resolve to start afresh id be walking down his yard with a standing greyhound bitch and planning my idyll mutt a few litters down the line.

The reason many Falconers feed them is because they are very cheap and very convenient and the vast majority of falconers weigh a bird before attempting to fly it.Why would anybody feed anything that as little nutritional value?,especially when they soon learn how much and when decent food affects their charge.
