It's in a small box, full of hay, inside a small cage. The biggest problem were having is keeping it warm constantly - have to remember to re-heat the wheat bag thingy...... A reptile heat mat with a thermostat might be worth getting. Can be picked up quite cheap online or you might find someone giving one away locally on Facebook Do NOT put a thermo mat on the base of the box, always put it on the side, so that the animal can choose its own heat range... A thermo mat should only cover half the base,heat rises,then the occupant can move away from direct heat if it wishes to.When I kept reps

Handsome beast,if allowed to bush and ratch about they often do especially if encouraged to do so.Ive an Akita,well the wifes,that i walk with the pack,over the years she does not know whether she is a terrier or a lurcher,she tries to smash cover with the terriers and chase with the lurchers,she can smash into brambles with ambition and as encountered for the odd catch or 3,she even managed a rabbit or 2 that were turned back to her and ive yet to see a dog finish a feral like her.Keep at it mucker.

It's a good point about them learning where to toilet penny, one of mine was reared on shavings so goes wherever and isn't bothered about standing in it either. IMO shavings are the worst thing as pups get them into their stomachs, gives them diarrhoea and doesn't do them any good at all. And, worst case scenario, can clog their guts up. Ive covered the kennel floor space with shavings for decades,pups and adults,without ever a problem,im not saying it don,t happen penny,yet any floor or bed covering will have drawbacks,only at times.

Totally agree yet id not own another lurcher that was not sired by my lads dog. -
Ive seen or owned many of the recognised terrier breeds,mainly in the context of the field and hunting,thats why ill only own Beddy hybrids now and a Lakey,i cannot handle more than 1 lakey at a time.Ive never seen or owned a Plummer graft,id like to but am like many and have been prejudiced by the action of the fella that created them and the different factions fighting over the breed title.If i can live with Beddys and the majority of the chancers,egos and nuggets that own them,then id possibly be the right sort of candidate to give a decent bred Plummer a chance,food for thought perhaps .

I often know the lineage of any litter i breed and always choose a pup that as thrown to a Parent,Grand parent etc.If i was to select a pup from an unknown lineage id look for an adventurous and curious pup with a good length of back and strong quarters.

Shite,get a Russel. The knowledgable one has spoken Its far more difficult to find the correct working kennel for any proper bred Beddy,the people that cannot be arsed to do a little research,that may answer any question they need answering are better off getting themselves a Russel,Russel owners are often far more amenable and tolerant,plus they know how to suffer fools .

All terrier breeds,if educated and allowed,will bush and ratch about on top nearly as well as each other,the differences will be mostly insignificant in the majority of kennels,when it comes to digging there is a world of difference between many terriers,often dependant on the type of hunting kennel they come out of.I prefer the versatility of the Beddy types,others prefer,Russels,others Fells and others Plummers and many combinations of each.Id not be putting to much emphasis into what others deem "best",its far to confusing and irrelevant as most of them will suffice and serve honest purpose

Exactly,a mutt with poor feet in one kennel will will suffer less than in another,especially if its tossed from a motor that does the majority of the leg work.Ive seen more piss poor foot conformation in bull types than any other lurcher type,possibly because bull breeds were never bred to gallop.As others have rightly stated road work is the greatest contributing factor to getting a mutts feet up on the toes and tight,if the mutt is bred with the feet that are conductive to the exercise,other dogs with poor feet will always benefit from roadwork,yet will always have poor feet and will never b
