  1. I was out with him a few years back .Louth tiger put on the land for a match with him and T.K thats on here i was brought to make a dvd of it .Their was a good few men their p.k from cavan lads from around the country. What was the upshot then Welcome? Did the borzoi crosses do any good against the more usual hare dogs?
  2. As above but make sure he's properly deflead with something like "Stronghold" so you don't spread the myxi to other places. (It's spread by fleas)
  3. That type of coursing is called "Park" coursing and seems to be the most popular here in Ireland. I have no problem with organised "open" coursing, as it was done in the UK but I've no taste for the running of any captive or enclosed animals. It's all done in muzzles these days which is a farce in my opinion. Surely that just prolongs any suffering. The antis have loads of film of muzzled hounds catching hares.
  4. Try scrounging the beer from the slop trays in your local (though some sneakily pour it back in the keg at the end of the night). Keep it away from the dogs as they'll enjoy it too and will get pissed!
  5. He's probably been enjoying the game but never needed to bring it right to hand before. When he saw you weren't going to start the game then he had to. That's what it sounds like to me anyway.

  7. Out of interest, why no cantering? I give mine bursts of galloping (on the grass verge mostly) once they're fit enough. Ball chasing with a ball thrower too.
  8. Very nice looking pup Gaz. She seems to be moulting at the moment. Is she smooth coated or is she slightly broken from the deerhound ancestry?
  9. As a last resort you might photogragh the photos.
  10. It's the highest part of the shoulder bones and to be exact you put a spirit level on the dog's shoulder then when it's level, measure from the floor to the level. No-one really needs to be exact unless running a lurcher show. Half an inch here or there means nothing in working terms.
  11. Will you let us know how you get on please Gibbo. These mysterious recurring lamenesses fascinate me. They obviously all have a cause but I've seen a few that were never diagnosed properly.
  12. No one's mentioned "minerals" yet.
  13. "Stays like a train", though that's not a new one.
  14. When you say pulling do you mean pulling weights or springpole? ie. pulling forwards or backwards?
  15. That's a brilliant article. I think Skycat put the link up one time.
  16. And is it just my imagination or do the coursing lads breed more litters than Hancocks?
  17. sorry but that dog not 32 inches measure of the wall it's 8 corses of brick at 75mm each which takes it too 600mm which is 24 inches to me mate. And I have 34inch inside leg and 6.2 and that kid is no wer near 6 ft tall. Well bricks vary and photos can be decieving but it looks to me like possibly a bit more than 8 and you're forgetting the half inch mortar courses . Seriously though, who gives a f**k? IMO it's a fine looking dog and I don't even like bull crosses much.
  18. Cutting the nail back won't remove the swelling. What it will do is take some of the pressure off the injured toe. Often this can allow healing to take place when it wouldn't otherwise. The toe won't be as good as new but when I've had dogs with injured toes which I couldn't get sound again, doing this has cured the lameness. (When the nail is cut back it will bleed like f*ck and if done without a local anaesthetic it will be a bit painful for the dog).
  19. I can see your point pal but the man was good enough to give your dog a home. Ask to have it back by all means but if he doesn't agree...... well you did give it to him.....
  20. Credit union loan maybe? You could wrap em in the elastic bandages that vets sell for horses tails perhaps, or maybe vetwrap, but you'd be better getting them off.
  21. The ones I saw at Alan Charles' I remember as being fairly level. I'd think they could vary a bit though.
  22. I saw those too. They were fine looking animals.
