  1. I lamp with a blitz all the time and I'm pretty sure it doesn't go anything like 800m, whatever it might say on the box. That's almost half a mile and even downhill with a backwind I don't think it does it.
  2. I didn't cancel. Bitch caught 7 from 9 runs (good for round here) in 2 1/2 hours. I just finished gutting and cutting. It was pissing down the whole time. I can't see why people like rain for lamping, I feckin' hate it!! I don't mind a bit of drizzle but I can't see the point of getting soaked. I'm sure the rabbits agree as there seem to be less of them out on the really wet nights.
  3. For a 13 month old untrained dog I reckon you're doing alright mate. In 40 years of keeping and hunting lurchers I've taken on a couple of similar ones so I know what you're dealing with. Sooner or later he may well realise that coming back to you will get him another run then you can ditch the E-collar. It sounds like he'll get the retrieving too but if he doesn't then maybe look into tug training.
  4. He has a very posh garage floor . I like your bull/ deerhound cross.
  5. yes take a break as i said on the other post there's 479 pages to read so a couple of days away will give you the time to do just that Will people asking about Merlin, eve, seagull etc. get suspended too? (I don't mean me now)
  6. I think that in greyhound racing drugs were mainly used to slow down a good dog until it was graded into poor company or given better odds - then it was allowed to do the business with big money on it at the last minute.
  7. Agreed! I own a mobile and every couple of days I find it and check if anyone important has rung up. I never take it with me unless I'm driving up the country and then it gets switched off until it's needed. Can they be tracked when they're switched off? Googled it. It looks like they soon will be able to be unless the battery's removed - http://news.cnet.com/2100-1029_3-6140191.html

  10. Really!!! How astonishing! Next you'll be telling us he buys cheap rubbish and stolen mutts to sell at a profit.
  11. Only if they already know it's OK to piss outside. Otherwise they'll believe you don't want them to piss at all and you'll get nowhere with it.
  12. im looking forward to that, stand shoulder to shoulder with the cnuts that tried to kill me all season,lol... That's why coursing will end up banned soon enough. They've grabbed it all for themselves so they'll get no wider support when it comes to the crunch. Why should we march, write letters or do anything when we'll never be allowed to run our lurchers in peace anyway? and coursing in muzzles is just ridiculous.
  13. Yes, best of luck. I used to exercise dogs from horseback and occasionally get a run. Make sure your dogs are steady and won't take the occasional nip at the horses heels or tail. I speak from experience here. It makes the horse buck like a fecker!!
  14. I'll be armchair hunting as soon as my young bitch finishes teething. She has these ones destroyed.
  15. Thought you'd gone Moll!!! Haven't seen a post from you in ages. Back as a mod eh.
  16. One of my dogs in the past lost a top canine tooth. I didn't notice any difference on anything.
  17. That's right about the myxy. It's spread by rabbit fleas and the fleas lay dormant in the burrows. If you feed myxi rabbits to your ferrets or dogs you will spread the myxi to your other grounds by way of the fleas. Surely the fleas are dead once in the dogs gut? Or do you mean if your dogs and ferrets have got fleas? The rabbit fleas will live for a time on dogs or ferrets. I usually skin gut and freeze rabbits for the dogs but for ferrets I just cut them into bits of the right size then chuck 'em in, skins and all.

  19. I see what you mean now. The fag lighter plug and the bullet connection are both too flimsy for lamping IMO. The lithium batteries would be improved by having decent connectors.
  20. A lithium battery already has the socket for a bullet connector built in so how do you connect spade clips to it? Are you saying to break into the casing?
  21. Download them as files on your pc. You should then be able to burn them to disc.
  22. Jeez, I didn't realise desert type dogs grew that big! My deerhound cross bitch is six n' a half months and 27 tts though I've no idea what she weighs.
  23. Where can I buy some of those Russian hunting clothes? Just the job for ferreting.
  24. A lot of it here is in walls, often with thorn hedges growing on and alongside, so I can only leave it un netted if I have a dog on both sides. If I'm doing it for farmers I need every rabbit too but I do love to see a few runs.
  25. Very true, I always like to have a cat around puppies so they get used to them. Some farmers like to have cats around their yard and they won't be too happy if some dickhead's dog kills one. Some people like cats and they've every right to keep them.
