  1. I don't. I'd go to blue cross but they don't do procedures that aren't seen as necessary. They classify it as sort of cosmetic.... A shame that. Unfortunately, yes :-(

  3. It was by complete chance too! Was walking by a field where people dump rubbish and the like, heard crying and had to go investigate, poor thing was a bag of bones and being eaten alive. Now he is a loveable dope and a fantastic hunter! :-) I presume he may have been deliberately dumped there, maybe a runt or just not up to standards! No one came forward for him so he's all mine now :-)
  4. Didn't get him from a breeder He was a stray pup, found him! Thanks for info
  5. She is brill. Rarely loses a catch. Quick off the mark, quick overall for her size and good stamina, not too great on corners though but makes up for it in speed. She also currently holds fastest recall in the county. She is mostly a rabbiting dog but like my own lurcher, has gone after larger game like foxes successfully. Clean kill too, nothing sloppy.
  6. Can't afford it! Asked for a quote from a number of vets and the minimum is €200 for such a small operation. It's cause he would need a good bit of anaesthetic I guess. I just don't have that kind of money right now!
  7. I always thought bull whippet! Thanks for the feedback so far. Just curious about her. Good to have some insight from people who are experienced and knowledgable about these dogs :-)
  8. I know. Had a brain-fart moment when typing in the topic. Got sidetracked and by the time i noticed, was too late lol oh well!
  9. Have noticed that my lurcher nearly always tears his dew claws when racing after rabbits. Not sure if it is the sharp corners or just the thrill of chasing but he seems to catch and tear his dew claws when running. Does anyone know if the Velcro guards you can get work? And do they effect the dog when running? Surgery to remove the claws isn't am option. Thanks in advance
  10. Hello! Just joined this website today. I have quite a keen hunting dog on my hands. He mostly hunts rabbits, but there are the odd pheasant, squirrel, and even foxes that come under his radar! Joined to gain knowledge and tips, and am also curious as to what you lovely people think my lurcher may be! He is 26 and a half inches at the shoulder, is 4 years old, and was found as a stray pup at approximately 5 weeks old. His ears are what stump me the most, they are mostly pinned back but when alert, they shoot up, like in the photo. Any input on him is greatly appreciated. Looking fo

  12. This is my 4 year old Lurcher. I have always wondered what might be in him, particularly cause of his large bunny-like ears lol He stands at 26 and a half inches to the shoulder and is quite active and fast! He has yet to match a dog that can outrun him. His ears aren't permanently erect, he pins them back when running and when relaxed, they are only up when he is alert. I found him as a puppy, he was about 5 weeks old and abandoned in a field. He was covered in mange and fleas, and has since come a long way! If anyone has any insight on what he may be, please let me know! I wou
