  1. What I would do is start with say d7100 and a 35 mm dx 1.8 lens and learn how to use the camera first. That lens will not have the reach it will be like looking through your eye vision but it will enable you to take great low light fast action pics were the slow kit lens won't. When you progress to the longer lens the 35 mm is a brilliant everyday carry around lens for taking great pics. Good combo to have.
  2. The tamron nikon fit 70-200 2.8 is supposed to excellent and a fair bit cheaper. I have 70-200 nikon vr 2.8 but to be honest you don't need vibration reduction for action shots, I have it switched off as it slows camera down, -200 is older model with no vr, tamron has no vr either but you don't need it anyway.
  3. I bought my 7100 with a 35 mm 1.8 dx lens for £400 delivered of eBay, it is mint, the -200 af 2.8 lens is about £400 second hand, are you just starting out or do you have good experience with dslr. My mate got a brand new d7100 for £450 he said. Will ask him where from.
  4. I would be trying to get a 2.8 lens if possible, they are expensive, a nikon -200 2.8 second hand would not be to bad of a price and on the 7100 dx camera would be like a 300mm with crop factor. The 2.8 will give you chance to get fast action low light pictures were you would probably struggle to get enough light with the slower 4.5 to 5.6, just my personal opinion.
  5. A lot of people reckon the Nikon d7100 is the best value nikon camera for quality and price, they were on offer on Amazon a while back. I have one it is a cracking camera. the lense i had on there was a dx 35mm F1.8
  6. As MIK says the shakey oracle is a fantastic rod for the money.
  7. I have a young Hancock bitch. I got her off a mate, i wouldn't have bought one off Hancock direct as i don't agree with puppy farming and would sooner have had one off working stuff. My mate helped me out when i had to retire my dog through injury, got her at 6 months and have taken to her, not been easy going training and bonding with her but seem to have turned a corner now. Had her out 4 times ferreting and she has went well, really pleased me to be honest, hope it continues, 12 months today.
  8. Reel wise i use shimano twin power xtr reels, the old Japan made ones, far better than new stuff. Not strictly a spinning reel but i find them perfect for the job, i have them in different sizes with spools on different mono and braid.
  9. Depends on what size river you are fishing for salmon. I fish a small river as well as big ones, on the small river i use a diawa whisker 7ft spinning rod 8lb braid or mono, had plenty salmon on it. on bigger rivers i have a 9ft diawa amorphous whisker with 20lb cortland master braid on. A great rod is a 10ft whisker spinning rod, i prefer the older models, they don't stay on ebay for long, that tells you a story.
  10. Hows his marking NL, always liked the look him.
  11. These look nice sorts for the ferreting job, not a bad price either. http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/115646989/collie-cross-whippet-first-cross-puppies.html?link=%2Fsearch%3Fkeyword%3Dwhippet%2Bx%2Bcollie%26sectionId%3D2154
  12. I have a decent beddy whippet bitch, got a young collie grey just had 1 ferreting trip so far but looks promising. Seen some cracking 3/4 whippet 1/4 beddys. Had terriers for ferreting best being a Russell and my best ferreting dog ever was a farm bred collie bitch. Had other beddy x lurchers and lurcher x lurcher.
  13. I like them off, had to get them off my beddy whippet as a adult, young bitch i have now has them on, stick right out, i can see trouble and removal in future. Any pups i have bred are done at 2 days.
  14. Aye put 4 holes in bottom one each corner.
  15. Is that who i got my pup from? I really liked his brindle dog if thats who your talking about. Aye it is mate, the brindle bitch is out of the same MB whippet as the blue whippet sire of your pup, mother to it was a good collie/grey x bull/grey . How is your pup doing, should be a decent size ?. Dam of yours was the little parti bitch, nimrodel blood, good little bitch in its day.He is doing well, having fun being a pup for the time being. He comes to work with me a fair bit so he's well used to diffrent sights and smells and stock. Im not sure on the hight of him as ive never measured him.
