  1. Look nice strong dogs, hope they do what you want. ATB.
  2. I just walk the roads and enjoy that, see a few good things and keep the dogs and myself fit.
  3. Had a look out tonight, got a sea trout on a yo zuri pin minnow, had a few salmon and sea trout on this lure. Had hold of 2 on the fly but they threw the fly.
  4. You put a small piece of silicone tube on rear end push line through the fly tube, tie on hook then push hook up into tubing. You can but plastic tubes for tying on that you can push the hook inside of. you can use the plastic tube off a cotton bud with ends melted if you want, you can also get aluminium copper brass tungsten tubes.
  5. Greys g lite 5' 6" had some big fish on this by accident but handled them. https://www.fishingmegastore.com/greys-glite-spin-rod~721.html I also have a 4ft 1 piece 1-4lb class spinmatic rod, its like a wand. great fun with a nice trout on, the day will come when i hook something bigger, not bothered if i loose fish, i enjoy the fight. i use this on streams flicking repps under bushes etc, you can fish 6 foot in front of you as the bait will be fishing right to you.
  6. I use berkley as well but the fireline crystal and also cortland master braid, i think when you are using light mono or braid it is better on a light rod, you would probably be using a light rod anyway for casting small baits. I like ultralite set ups for trout fishing. I have picked up some nice salmon and sea trout, fishing with my ultralite set up for trout. Nice pike by the way mate. 5'6" 2-5lb class rod, 4 pound fireline braid, number 2 mepp aglia.
  7. If you are using mono casting number 1 mepp for trout i would be using 4lb max.
  8. You want braid mate, i often use 8 or 10lb braid when fishing repps and a soft rod. I always fish as light as i dare to suit conditions, casts better presents bait better on light gear. I sometimes use 4lb braid.
  9. Aye had small fish on big baits, thing about the smaller bait is the weight, if you wanting a light bait for the conditions, i also think many a time a big fish will take a small bait over a big one as it would a fly. Had many a salmon on a number 1 and 2 mepp.
  10. As you see he sells small ones, i make my own but you wonder if it is worth it time you buy the components. As you see he does bulk prices, best buy stuff with a few mates and get a far better price. Thing with condoms and the like, you need to put them together right so the blade works right, seen some that would not spin right. John Park i think his name is will have anything he does done right that is for sure.
  11. You can buy the bits to make your own but there is that many people sells them you can pick them up cheap enough. As said the little 7g ones are good for trout, i sometimes put a buck hair body on , you can buy them called flying prawns. http://www.mchardys.co.uk/prodisp.php?prodcatind=4&subcatind=004&pageind=5 Fella out of Mchardy's is ok to deal with and he makes good stuff.
  12. Had a look out this morning for a hour, had 2 trout best one about a pound. Both returned, got on a small flying condom fished upstream, these are just about 2" long very light, fished a number 2 mepp but was catching the rocky bottom a bit to often, these little condoms were just the right weight for the conditions, i never had a number 1 mepp in my pocket.
  13. What add ons did you have mate, i have thought about one of these scopes but not sure, i know a lad who has one i might ask him to have a look at it.
  14. Just been down river with fly rod for 3 hrs, was going to stay all night but a otter put a end to that. Every pool i went to the bugger was swimming through it. Gave it up as a bad job, always next time, was nice to be out.
  15. If you go at dusk till dawn the trout will start dropping out to the pool into the tail or neck, the shallower thinner water. Be trout in real shallow water in the dark. Might go tonight and have a few hours in dark then fish break of light, will fish with fly. In a flood it will push the fish into the slacker water in the sides, usually the higher the water the nearer the bank they will be in the slack side.
  16. Did you lads have to put cross in with a pencil, i smell a rat, the twats will be changing them. I voted OUT.
  17. In low water you want small baits mate and better fished off light line, presents the bait better. Dawn and dusk better than putting time in when the sun is up. Try fishing a worm on light gear 3lb line or so, try it upstream in clear water , fish will be facing current so may not see you if you keep stealthy, i use a bit of plastersine stuck onto the swivel for a weight, you can remove and add as you want and it won't get snagged up as easy as a lead weight. Little weight and keep the worm moving. Not trying to tell you how to suck eggs just trying to help you as you say you are starting out
  18. Quality pups at a great price, they should go no bother.
  19. CJ i will have it off you, could pick it up when I'm up your way. PM me mate.
  20. They all gone now I think he said, 1 worker ,rest pet homes. I got one of the whippet pups he's a little scrapper. Hope it works out for you mate, been out with parents loads, that dam was a cracker in its day.
  21. I wouldn't know mate as i don't know the river, but one thing i do know junctions are usually decent bits, the fish hang about a little longer they are testing the water to see if its their river or not.
  22. Aye it is mate but if they don't want them they had to go for pets.
  23. Did you do anything on the devil mate.
  24. Aye they are all gone, i would be looking for a 3/4 whippet 1/4 collie if you wanting one around 19 /20" and a bitch.
