  1. there are good adult dogs out there that occasionally come along for sale and with a genine reason for doing so but there are an awfull lot of people out there that are for want of a better word peddlars who are out to make a quick few quid and dont mind telling lies and /or exagarating to get a quick sale.the type skycat is on about which have been left unsociallised in a pen and not handled or botherd with and are big saplings should imo be left alone because in the majority of cases unless someone real experienced gets them will never amount to much and just get passed from pillar to post w
  2. have you ever seen or owned a first cross slow they aint .
  3. What more can a Greyhound add to a Lurcher line other than Speed ? Don't get me wrong, I like at least 50% Greyhound in my Lurchers, but I can't see what else they add apart from speed.I think they are the only base breed to add this in the amount needed. Yes Whippets can add speed, but not as much. Salukis add stamina and all the other breeds add their bit; nose, coat, feet, etc. But for the life of me I can't see what else a Greyhound adds ! Cheers.heart and unbeileivable will to get to whatever their chasing .
  4. whether we like it or not lurchers and poaching have always gone hand in hand. always have. and always will.since the ban came in its made it a lot harder to be somewhere your not supposed to be with a dog if you havnt got permission. imo the hunting ban, people driving feilds, and showing no respect has ruined the game .because you can poach and still show respect to the owner or any land your on permission or not .
  5. And why should the traders be compensated for an act of god??? The show a rip off anyway! I remember show were set up by hunting lads who were bored in summer...now its 20 bar just to get in £29 !!!!!! on Friday. They've certainly lost out on a lot of money. dont care which way you look at it £29 entry fee is a right piss take and rip off no terriers or lurchers and they charge those sort of prices my way of thinking ihas always been to people moaning if you dont like the price dont go and dont moan but they the cla are really pisstaking with the prices they charge nowadays. go

close on 30 year ago was lamping with a mate and my 10 year old son who is a member on here and a feild of bullocks started running down the feild after us anyway we jumped over the sheepwire fence thinkingg its ok now ,next thing they have come straight through the fence dragging about 70 yds of fencing and themselves straight at us we jumped down a bank in to the river to get away frightening at the time and when i look back now thinking about it .if it happened now when being polite ime far from agile dread to think what might happen .
  8. at the end of the day what does it matter what some one keeps their lurcher for race show or work or all three as long as the owner is happy thats all that counts i agree with charts on here they lurchers are now being bred specific lines for whatever you use your dog for ie racing or show but no differant to picking your breeding from the working lines imo all your doing is trying to get the best dog that suits what you do with them.,whether its working them showing or racing .its all ok moaning onn hre about people racing pures against lurchers but what are the organisers supposed to do if

  14. back in 1994 i had a salukix irish terrier that came from ireland little red 24tts bitch she could certainly catch em.in 1995 last saturday before the ban she ran 8 caught 5 and killed her fifth on her eighth run. kipper had her off me and dont know what happened to her after that .
  15. dont know but would imagine their worth a few bob to the right person.
  16. so what would ye expect a lamp dog to do, pull up or go around stuff?? i would expect a lamp dog to be more educated when running the beam .up untill a few years ago all my running dogs lamped and coursed daytime but over the last few years i only run daytime and hence my two running dogs do not really know what lamp work is all about and on the odd ocasion they do have a odd run down the beam they tend to run the same as in the day and as the one especially is a very good daytime dog i do not see the point in risking injuring him just for the odd nights lamping plus the amount of times i
  17. Hi J, sorry to hear of your bad luck ,my black & tan Rainer cost me over £2000 when he dislocated his leg in Lincs, I've a new pup to run this year ,it would be nice to see you, and chew the fat. I will be at the Festival Of Hunting on the Peterborough Showground and there for the East Of England Show, maybe we will meet up at one of them?Good Hunting .T yes be good to see you t probally be at the 2 of them .
  18. ive found if their doing day and night work from youngsters then theres not so much of a problem but if they have only been used for daywork and suddenly you use a older dog or pup on the lamp you can get a fair few accidents .got the vets bill from last year to prove it, never did much lamping with my two youngsters as only really keep them for daytime ,but started them late in season on the lamp and tbh shut my eyes every time i slipped them the one cost me couple of quid under a grand in the vets and the other will not be running the lamp this year as he is crazy behind anything and bad e
  19. anyone got pictures of the lurcher winners be great to see them .
  20. i think everyone is missing a very important point here guys, a dog has only got to please one person and thats the one that owns feeds and looks after it .tbh there aint a dog ever been born that gives a monkeys cuss about what anyone other than its owner thinks .and lets be honest not every lurcher is gonna make top grade but as long as it suits the owner what does it matter .and theres a lot of owners out there that are more than happy with their running dogs regardless of how they measure up to the so called superstar dogs .
  21. that offer makes you rethink that there are genuine top class lurcher folk out there well done fair play for the offer . .
  22. i got a few mates who are members and pm me on here but dont post ,two of them have told me they like having a nose on here but to much rowing and backbiting on a lot of posts so they dont bother.
