  1. I'd say stock training, recall, jumping. Mine is a wanker on two of those fronts so i'm doing well
  2. Pups that didn't sell got the bullet i think, now not so much, or at all. Just what I heard.
  3. Good place to fish. . . . . some nice trout in there I prefer the one above though. The whole area is a good place for a wander.
  4. I think some peoples only dislike. . . . . is simply not wishing to buy a pup from a puppy farm that always has pups available. And it is their 'right' to feel that way. Also, I think that in the right hands, a very high percentage of collie x greys, whoever bred them, will kill rabbits for you. It's each to their own.
  5. Wow. . . . you really ARE highly strung. Threatening me? Because I asked. . . . 'Is that a yes or a no mate?', as I couldnt work it out from your answer - Not what I would deem rude. But it obviously hit a nerve, for that I apologise, it was not my intention As for the other thing, you keep banging on about, I don't really think you know what you are talking about! Someone threatened to smash my teeth down my throat unnecessarily, over nothing. And I didn't respond. I later took my mates 5 year old to the toilet and the same person continued to act like an idiot, swearing at me etc, a
  6. I don't think i am anyone in particular. I just asked a question, and was looking for an answer. You said earlier that you liked to keep your dog fit and have it fit for the season, unlike 'other people'. So I was asking if you thought that come the season you would have a fitter dog on your hands than folk who let them have time off over summer, and built them back up pre season. Since when did I speak to you like I am something special. . . . wind your neck in. As for the rest of your drivel. Look at what I have said, where was I rude? Or threatening? Edited to add - if you can't tak
  7. It happens colin! Our old terrier took a dislike to one hen. . . . . .
  8. I didn't realise there was a puppy farmers handbook??? And that's bollocks anyway I know of a local puppy farm that churns out over priced labradoodles etc. And they hip score their dogs. I'm not knocking his dogs as such, seen come handy ones working. But he has a farm, where he breeds pups for profit and always has then available, what ever way you look at it. . . . it's a puppy farm.
  9. Is that a yes or a no mate? Pups are hyper and love to run. . . . . .that's a given.
  10. Serious question and not a dig. . . . . But do you think running the young dog every day behind the car for miles, will make it any fitter come the season, than a young dog that has been mooching around, free running, swimming etc, and mostly lounging around the garden, and is then put through a conditioning routine just before the season, and then worked hard?
  11. If the weather is like it is here. . . . . . it'd kill my dogs, and i'd like to think they are fit. Edited to add - just seen you say it's early morning. It was still bloody hot here at 8am. Just seems a waste of fitness to be running the dog that much now? I leave mine to chill out and relax. And start building up around a month before the season maybe. Although most of their fitness comes from mooching and hunting.
  12. Why try to start an argument? He produces a shit load of dogs, some will be good, some will be shite. Some of that will be down to the owner, some of it the dog, or the breeding. To be honest though, stick a grey and a collie together, and for the most part, you will end up with dogs that can catch stuff, at least rabbits etc. But at the end of the day. . . .. some folk just don't like puppy farmers.
  13. I've met a few lads that are members and ex members of THL. Met Johnnyboy just after I joined, as he offered me some ferret kits to add some blood into my line, and since then he has become pretty much my best mate. Also met and now consider good friends who I see all the time, or at least, as much as possible - Malc1 Borntorun.... Joe777 Old Real Tree Wales1234 Zerky Tyla And met a good few others on odd occasions, including, Bird LLoydy Forest of Dean Redneck. Mustalid Tomo Frankel Bobby Blackheart Blackstaff And probably more that I have missed!
  14. This is a dumb question. But then this is silly season I suppose. Roll on winter.
  15. Looks a nice sort. Every man should have a terrier.
  16. It's a fair question. If you have no experiance of hunting, when someone shows you the ropes, how do you know that they are doing it right? Fair point.
  17. and he spake............... it aint so much how we look mate.......its a general opinion throughout the uk!!! i suppose alot on here really dont come into contact with em!!! but please believe me mate when its every single day you see them and there affect on the town its enough to send you mental.......... That's what I mean by depressing mate . . . . i'm coming round. . . . But some of the stuff is just angry ranting with no real purpose or result
  18. To be fair it's boring as f**k. And. . . . . I don't think some of it makes us hunters look very good to those 'others' who are reading. Having an opinion is one thing, but some of it is just un educated drivel. Oh yer and it's just depressing
  19. Mate of mine worked on a project using bees to detect landmines. . . . true story!
  20. We usually have our in the house until about 8/9 weeks, then out in the pen in the day and in the house in the eve / night till about 4-5 months, so all the house training etc can be done, then in the pen full time. Not saying its the right way, just our way.

  22. I spend too much of my time down with you mate, and yes, last year the wet summer f****d them. We did some spots that no one else can ferret, or hunt and were getting 2 out of warrens that in previous years were good for 25-30. Also noticed pretty much everything we killed was not born last summer, but in the previous year. A lot of warrens were flooded out. Hopefully this winter will be better, as we have plenty of land to go at!
