  1. Dont know about that, go on the the whippet forum, they live for cash on that site, stud their dogs to anything that moves...... Sorry, missed that you said Good Pedigree Whippet....
  2. Nice looking, whats the breeding and how tall is she? Thanks
  3. It would help to know what type of rabbiting you are doing, lamping/ ferreting, bushing with the terriers etc or maybe all. Anything from collie/greyhound, bedlington/greyhound, whippet/bedlington x whippet, whippet or a combination of them all. Just make sure its from working parents.
  4. Talking of random bushing dogs, the best one i had was a little rescue border collie bitch, she would have held her own in any company, really suprised me how she managed to work through the cover.
  5. Good day out, can't wait....excellent for racing.
  6. Ive had both border collies....border collie lurchers and border/ beardie lurchers. The beardie/border had better drive to find a scent when there wasnt much about. If there is plenty of game about both will do fine, but i have found that about 50% of the border collie and border collie lurchers ive worked get bored easily if theres not much about and find something else to do....(i unfortunately hunt were thers not much game and am speaking from a soley hunt up and catch point of view). The border lurcher i have now who's nearly ten is great when theres a bit of game about, but wont put herse
  7. On top of a good diet and exercise a really good product is Johnsons Velvet coat,,,,they do another similar one, but i find this is the better of the two. We used to use a few different ones in the grooming parlour, but this is the best in my eyes.
  8. Love those two dogs of yours Dougall. Nice.
  9. Try the K9 forum for racing whippets.....link here, go to the bottom of the page..... If your wanting to add a good dose of speed you'll find it on here. http://www.k9community.co.uk/forums/index.php
  10. Love collie crosses, but i have found that where i hunt if there is not much going on some collie crosses get bored and find something else to do (like find a stick to play with)rather than buckle down and find a scent. However some collie crosses, no matter how little game is about love to look for a scent and then work it. I found the collie lurcher i had that combined border and beardie was a good a hunter as anyone could wish for, he would hunt no matter what. This time ive gone for a lurcher to lurcher cross with a bit of collie and beddie in it.
  11. Just go back to basics.....use a long length of washing line and dont let her off for a while. I tend to run away from my puppies to encourage them to come to me......using a puffy high pitch voice and going down to my knees as they approach. I know not all puppies are the same and some really know how to push you to your limits, but be patient and never lose your temper. You could try training to the whistle as this can hide the frustration in your voice which they can pick up on. I would maybe start at home again and gradually try in a place where there isnt too many distractions. Ive had a
  12. The little bit of beardie in my border collie greyhound made all the difference.
  13. Ok, judges that favour a entire dog etc....thats all well and good, but how do you when picking an overall champion know that that entire male isnt up against a spayed bitch? Surely you treat spayed bitches the same?
  14. Couldnt get through to the link, but i had a good golf trolley battery, very good quality, obviously not as light as the lithium. If i could afford it i would go for a lithium with then being so light weight.
  15. Dont you hold back bird... Been speaking to few on the bedlington forum, think a few are on here. I mentioned about the various bed crosses and it was suggested that the bedlington lurcher to bedlington lurcher, line bred is the best bet.
  16. Lovely pal, how much bedlington in it?
  17. Stabba, i think it was skycat that was commented on the potential of the picardy/beardie litter. All new to me.
  18. Yes, seen the litter you was on about in the other thread. Unfortunately i dont know much about them other than there was another litter on the go afew weeks ago,,,something like beardie collie/ greyhound x picardy greyhound. I read the picardy supposed to have good prey drive and guarding instinct, other than that i really dont know that much. I know there was plenty of good praise for the beardie/picardy litter. So they definitely sound promising. I sure somebody on here will know.
  19. Really like the look of him/her.How is the dog breed? atb shaun Cheers Shaun He was, dare i say it , a hancock, half cross border/beardie/ greyhound . Best working dog i have owned, didnt realise how good he was at the time. Was mad for foxes (something i dont hunt). Ive never had a dog since that could hunt up like him. Amzing strike as well, it just all came so natural to him. At home you could ask for a better dog, so laid back, but my god when he was like a different animal.
  20. Try posting on here, good helpful forum. http://www.workingbedlington.co.uk/index.php
  21. Lovely looking dogs. What lurchers are they?
  22. My favourite bit of action, all i do these days, catch next to sod all, but have proper adrenalin filled action. Take a flask of tea with me......sorted.
