Pups coming along well at 15 weeks but last week he was in the wars...... First on Tuesday was out having a little mooch on some land near home where there is some quarry about just letting him sniff at the different sents and have a general play about in the fields. We'd had a great walk and i was impressed that he picked up a mixy'd rabbit that was virtually blind.... from behind a bush ( i hadn't even spotted it till he came running past with it in his mouth) anyway just heading back to the vehicle and all of a sudden he's stood quithering not coming to me when i call

Thebedlington lurcher history
ossetthunters replied to shaunpauls7's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
My dad owned a first x beddy grey in the late 's early 90's it was a cracking dog did the bunnies for fun and could tackle old charlie also do the feather aswell.......... I was looking for a beddy x myself but these days not many people work the bedlington so its not easy to have a litter out of "working stock" atb -
In my experiance the whippets or whippet x's do tend to whine more than some other types..... atb

Ive been handed a book of a friend of mine its called The Lurcher training and hunting by Frank Sheardown and its been very helpful. As ive just got my own first pup (always had dogs growing up like, my dad had a first x beddy / grey about 10 -15 years ago was a excellent dog well know round my area. Good luck with the pup ps what area did you get the dog from as i was looking for a beddy / grey?? went for a deerhound / grey x picardy / grey / beardie / grey. Im suited with him he's only 11 weeks now and is already showing good intelligence also very steady on his feet cant wait for

Just depends what your wanting the dog to do.... a bit of advice from me would be, if your happy sticking with the bunnies a whippet x would be fine but what if you want to move on to other quarry after a good couple of seasons you may find yourself looking for another dog with a bit more stamina and power??? One to think about atb
