  1. Two little jacks bushing for the collie/greyhound.
  2. Have you looked on here....... http://www.k9community.co.uk/forums/index.php?act=idx You will have to register, if you go to the bottom of the page and head for non ped whippet racing. Have you tried Highgate greyhound stadium, they have lots of non ped racing there or maltby whippet racing, both not too far away from you.
  3. Thats a nice offer for somebody Whin, i wish somebody like you would go on the working whippet forum and put an offer up like that to them. I nearly got kicked off the site for giving my honest opinions about whippets....nice...(and i actually like whippets) Oh and i think a combination of good entering and good breeding will improve the chances of getting a good working whippet. Although mine was top show stock and worked his nuts off...couldn't expect more from a whippet.
  4. I always had a thing for my lurchers walking well to heal off the lead. With my current lurcher who is nearly now 9 (collie/greyhound) I wish i had waited to do the heel part of the training until she was a least one and a half years old or at least hunting well first. I have found her not wanting to work too far away from me and is a bit too much like a yoyo this can be very frustrating when there is a half decent size field that needs hunting. My other long gone collie/greyhound hunted up any size field like a dream, maybe its just a coincidence (dont think it is), but i did his heel wor
  5. Your best bet is on the working bedlington site....there some really good working beddies there...link below. http://www.workingbedlington.co.uk/index.php
  6. Led lensers are the dogs. A bloke on the rabbiting forum was talking about them so i looked into them and took the plunge. You want to be going for the M OR P14, they run on AA batteries, these are about 225 lumens (its not just the lumens that gives you a good beam.....quality of lens etc. This one doesn't even have a reflector...really strange. Its not £12 though these cost between £50 to £65. i can honestly sa its better than my long gone blue eye 200,000. I couldn't believe how good it was. Its a really well built bit of kit, not cheaply made. Any heres a link.....you may have to convert
  7. Cheap to feed, all mine have been right gready sods.
  8. My long gone whippet got a gorse thorn in his eye, they had to operate to remove, they then put this big white layer of protein (at least thats what i thin they said it was) over his eye. He ended up been fine, the vet said he was very lucky. The vet fees were not too bad. If vets know your insured they know how to charge. My old jack also got a gorse thorn in his eye. The vet gave us some cream or his eye and said hopefully his eye will naturally expel the thorn (this time only a small thorn), anyway his eye did expell the thorn and he was fine. Dont work gorse these days, not worth
  9. Don't get bogged down with all this SS/MB stuff. There are plenty of whippet lines out there......that will do a good job. MB stuff isnt for me ive seen a lot of variation in size this line.
  10. Nice to see a whippet that doesn't look like its got a bit of bull hiding in it.
  11. Don't know if you seen this thred about saluki/grey x collie/grey...next page down to yours. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/186033-salukigreyhound-x-colliegreyhound/
  12. How do you find keeping weight on your whips? Just that blue/grey one in that 3rd pic looks quite under. Im not having a go, just the others weight looks ok. Nice little pack.
  13. Thats madness, surely not all rescue centres are like this, have you tried http://www.lurcherlink.org/llink/forum/index.php?sid=22bc322dd0c17ac4cb4207778094be0d (loads here) there are 2 sections...Lurcher link homeless hounds and the one below......other homeless hounds. Something i have been considering, i think they get someone to do a home check, but haven't heard anyone mention that they can't be kennelled outside.
  14. Looks a nice dog pal. There was someone else on here a while ago who had a whippet with some bull in it (somebody may have already have mentioned it) that got mated by his jack russel. He started a good thread with the progress of one of the pups. If i come across the link i will attatch it for you.
  15. Certainly common in the ones ive known.
  16. I still think you can improve on the first cross collie greyhound.
  17. All the whippets i had have been shag mad, but would turn off if there was something to chase. Might be worth taking him out alone, he will pick up the idea in no time. He will still be shag mad but hopefully once he gets the idea he will switch off while hes out working. Ive always said whippets are shag mad.
  18. I run a collie greyhound first cross, very useful bitch, but i was lucky and she has thrown quite racey and is quick off the mark, but for what i do bushing rabbits in small fields i would opt for something with a bit more speed, i also find if there isn't much action going on she gets bored quickly and finds something else to do like find a stick to play with. Many years ago i used to go out with a pair of real old blokes doinga bit of bushing and ferreting and they used to sware by there whippet/greyhounds for catching the bolting rabs, can make very good dogs, but like steve said earlie
