  1. Tesco,as above, sorry that's for the lurcher.
  2. Nobody really knows the cause yet, could be spores, could be mites........lots of research been going on over last few years. If you google seasonal k9 disorder/illness. I just did my normal mooching round, other three dogs ok.
  3. Just wondering if any bodies dog has had this. It was something I wasn't aware of until yesterday. I took all my dogs out Saturday and Sunday, come Tuesday i noticed one of my bushing dogs dogs didn't want to go outside and was just wanting to stay in her bed, left her tea that night, come Wed morning, orange sick everywhere. Took her straight to the vets, gave her anti sickness jab and another jab and gave me some electrolyte powder for her. Anyway she's in the vets at the moment on a drip, kidney readings really bad. Mines the sixth this week, 2 have died another two still on the
  4. I've got a first cross border collie greyhound, what a fantastic coat she's got, short but so dense and is low maintenance. Not all rough coats are good, a lot but not all of bedlingtons lurchers have terrible rough coats.
  5. Border Collie x greyhound or beardie/border x greyhound, if you want to down size collie/greyhound x whippet. Kelpie x greyhound or kelpie/greyhound x whippet.
  6. Can't understand why beardie lurchers aren't more common, although I do like a mix of beardie and border. In my experience they hunt more for a scent than the pure border x greyhounds. They have very good skin, excellent feet, clever. Mine had so few injuries, was the best hunting dog I've owned and very easy to live with. Can't think of a better mooching dog. Oh, and he had an ace coat better than most beddie coats by far.
  7. Little fish, makes sense what your saying and I have spent loads of one to one time with her. I am still taking her out a lot on her own mooching as well as playing etc, but she does obviously join in with the others as well. The bond she has with me has greatly improved from when she was younger its more the stubborn/sensitive side that gets to me. I have 3 other dogs. I think just patience and a different approach is definitely needed to bring the best out of her, it has been a challange, but I'm certainly not giving up on her.....underneath it she's a lovely dog.....if slightly odd. Cheers
  8. Anyone know where the best place to get an osram 50w bulb for the cluson lazerlight? Thanks
  9. Cheers all. 3 turns. She's at her worse when she's out with me 1 to 1, not too bad at all when out with the other dogs. Gareth, it definitely has that same sort of stubborn streak, if she doesn't want too, she ain't going to.
  10. Funny that, I do sometimes catch the tiny glance of saluki in her.
  11. The bond we have got has got better and she now shows affection towards me etc. When I bought her she seemed to like everybody other than me, but that phase has passed. The behaviour regarding staying in the kennel and been sensitive has not changed at all. She sometimes has that look as if she's been kicked, body posture very low head facing down, eyes u, like a dog in a plea add. I've always enjoyed bringing on a pup, but this real sensitive side is really spoiling it.
  12. I've never really had a problem with getting on with one of my working dogs before, but that changed when I decided to add another lurcher to my team, my old bitch was 10 so I thought it was a good time to get another pup. Her mum was bed/whip, dad collie/grey x whippet, she's now one year old. From day one she's been a very touchy bitch and didn't really take to me, over time she's come around we get on fine, but I've had to really tip toe around her. My dogs are used to living in and out, when I shout my dogs in they fly to the door, but if she's in the mood or if its raining she'll jus
  13. Very true. When I was ringing around for one, I was talking to one chap who wouldn't send on the pedigree papers on for a good while in case he thought you would breed from the line.....it had loads of sooty Sam in the line......I couldn't believe it....he was like jealously guarding the line......what a dick........ I never breed anyway, so the papers meant nothing to me.
  14. My old collie was barking like mad under a holly hedge, rushed to take a look, he was having a stand off with a toad.
  15. If all fails try the Working bedlington forum
  16. Have you considered if one of the cree led torches would suit you, some are very powerful . Do a search on here there's plenty of info on them, or maybe the clu briter, I've just ordered one.
  17. my vet once told me mother her whippet had one wouldnt ever run raced till 6/yrs oldand lived till 15 no problems but i suppose theres different ones Her vet gave the heart murmur a number, sort of a scale of the severity. The last one was worked all its life no probs, this one is more a pet, but out every day in woods chasing squirrels and showed no problems to date. Makes you wonder how common it is. Both were from working lines as well.
  18. Heart murmurs also quite common in whippets, last two of my mothers both had them.
  19. Nice his whippets, the sneaky bit of bull in there goes along way.
  20. Been using the led lenser m14, it's goes from zoom to spot and has a magnifying lens, 225 lumens, 280 metre range, takes 4 AA batteries. It's only a short torch, very nice, but its range is not a usable 280 metre. Excellent for a realistic 100 metres max, which isn't bad really. Everybody seems to be getting hung up on the amount of lumens, which I can understand, but just as important is the quality and size of the reflector and lens.
  21. I can't vouch for all collie lurchers with beardie in them, but that one of mine was a keen as mustard, he never picked his runs, had to close my eyes if he was chasing towards a hedge row. Greatly missed.
