  1. Best hunt up lurcher I had had beardie and border in it. Brilliant thick skin, got tangled in a roll of barbed wire once and came off very well considering. Never had any problems with his feet and he cost nothing in vet bills, very robust dog. He loved to hunt, nose down eyes up, great to watch. Most laid back dog at home you could wish for at home. By no means a pre ban hare dog , but a 1st class dog for mooching and lamping. I never bothered with foxes, but by christ he could find them.
  2. Looks like you've put some time and effort into her, cracking little dog.
  3. Any particular reasons your after a collie lurcher?
  4. If it was me i would have a touch of beardie collie in there as well. For me personally I find a collie lurcher with a tad of beardie in it hunts up much better and further a field than just border collie blood alone. Can't understand why beardie blood isn't more widely used in mooching lurchers.

  7. Old hella spotlight, makeshift handle and a quid switch from halfords, thought it was good till i saw the beam a cibie spotlight.
  8. I dont teach a dog to heel off the lead too early, i prefer to do it when they're a bit older, found if done too early some tend to heel too much on their own accord. I do lead work early though.
  9. Thanks for the picture, not seen one before.
  10. Cheers for that, i couldn't find it anywhere.
  11. I was just looking for the kelpie thread that somebody started yesterday or the day before, just wanting to see the threads progress, but i cant find it anywhere. Can anyone point me in the right direction to finding it. Thanks
  12. Was talking to the owner of a pure kelpie the other day, he also owns a border collie, there both used for agility and the like. He was saying the kelpie is a different temp completely to the collie in as such that the kelpie is more get on and do whereas the border tends to wait for commands. I must say his kelpie is the most vocal dog ive ever heard, when he makes them sit and wait in the woods the kelpie never shuts ups. Ive only heard one lurcher owner on here mention the vocal side of his kelpie lurcher so maybe it tends not to be passed on to frequently. Isnt d.sleight trying to breed a
  13. Bushing and hunting up is mainly what i do now. I use jack russell terriers, should imagine all terriers will do it, but i dont like or need anything too hardcore so i just go for your average old fashioned jack russell.....not even from working stock and they do the job just fine..i like a yapper in cover to let the lurchers know if anything is about to happen. My old border collie bitch was ace in cover, but was silent.....the lurchers still picked up on when something was going to bolt though. One of the jrt will go down a rabbit hole every now and again, but only for a few seconds, th
  14. Either, less mud in the house if kept outside. Less chance of getting stolen inside. Makes no difference to working ability. If its likely to go for the other dogs then obviously keep them apart.
  15. One of my jack russell bitches humps for britain. She clumps her covers together and really goes for it, another of her favourites when the mood strikes is the edge of her bed. She was spayed many years ago, but this hasn't altered her habits.
  16. You have to pay a fortune for a good dry dog food, the ones with the best ingredients cost about £40 - £50+.I use chudleys racer which is about £16 a bag and my dogs are in good nick, but i supplement with bits of meat, bones etc.
  17. Got a M7 lenser, only small, takes four double AA. Really good, it does have loads more settings than you need. Expensive, but good, quality lens etc......but im sure you may be able to get just as good cheaper.
  18. Join working whippet forum..... Most of them, although not all of them, breed a litter or two each year, around the £350-£450 price mark.......usually a litter or two comes up just before christmas or times when there strapped for cash.....like i said not all of them, but be carefull.
