I kinda like the idea of a bicameral system but I can't help but feel it's redundant. The implementation of the Lords, and the Senate for that matter, was to ensure the wealthy were represented more strongly in the democratic system to stop the common folk damaging the country by being short sighted. If we elect the parliamentarians of the upper house, then how is that any different to just having a single house, unicameralism? There has to be some distinction I think, and with a good political reason to justify it. The justification to the Senate is good and relevant, it makes the voi
  2. I shot a 40 S&W in South Carolina a few years ago. There's so much choice. After you get over deciding how you want your eggs for breakfast, and whether you want bacon or sausage, toast or hash browns, you get offered just as much choice at the gun range. Revolver or semi-auto? Double action or single action? Which calibre? Which make of gun? Which target do you want? I want that one...... Yeah, they like their freedom, LOL. If pistols were legalised very liberally tomorrow I'd be out to buy at least two that afternoon! I fecking hate our gun laws but I'll save you a rant.
  3. Bloody great fun ain't it! Had a play with 22, 40S&W, 9mm and 45ACP myself and definitely preferred the 9mm. I'd like to try 357mag at some point too. Poxy UK gun laws! LOL
  4. The media's priorities aren't based on importance, it's based on popularity. If something is more popular with their chosen demographic then that's going to get more coverage.
  5. Not sure I understand why Stoke is being portrayed as the 'Brexit capital' when a handful of places in the East Mids had higher proportion of Leave votes.... Numbers mean f**k all, it's percentages that matter. Bit of a false portrayal.

  7. so you would not be able to get up the stairs while carrying a cup of coffee in each hand God no, not safely!
  8. It's like how there were almost no Trump supporting Hollywood stars, if they came out for Trump they would probably never work again. The only one that comes to mind is Jon Voight. I wouldn't be suprised if the likes of Mel Gibson and Kurt Russel also supported him. But you're right. On the more general topic of this thread, I think celebs feel they have a social duty to be political because of their position. At the same time they're no better placed to make a political judgement than a mechanic or builder! I have a bit of respect for the likes of Angelina Jolie mind, she seems to
  9. Yep thats the STOP tour, we have to do them several times a week! As we were a service company it was a quick way to get hated by the rig crew so I would make all of mine up. We had a really annoying HSE guy in Aberdeen, he was always banging on about holding hand rails and reverse parking (which is safer in case of a fire LOL) one day some one spotted him carrying his bike up a flight of stairs without holding the hand rail so they put a STOP card in about him... Oh f**k me you've reminded me of another, reverse parking! God forbid you just swing ya car into the pissy tiny spac
  10. The site I work on won't allow you to walk while talking on your mobile phone. Bare in mind there are also footpaths marked out with yellow paint and the site is almost entirely offices! Oh and you get a bollocking for crossing the yellow lines too. You also have to hold banisters while using the office stairs..... And these aren't advisory either folks, people actually enforce them! What sort of jobsworth c**t thinks they have a social duty to do that sort of shit? Oh and we also have a monthly 'walk around' where selected staff members have to walk around looking for potential ha

  12. but we should be changing to a wind turbine a solar panel and a teslar battery, but we won't because no one will tell you how or give you a hand getting off the ground because they are making to much money selling out of date technology to you and lining there pockets, and reading a set of guidelines drawn up by the very people robbing me does not make me feel anymore reassured, share holders equal price rises I'm sorry mate, but being a share holder doesn't give you some power to sit on some ever increasing income curve. The dominant forces driving prices are supply and demand in the ma
  13. Anybody had a read of the Competition and Markets Authority report on competition in the energy market? They couldn't find conclusively that profits were unreasonable though suspect a degree of this. So scandal right? Well not necessarily so as it was conclusively found that very few people have historically forced providers to be more competitive by actually leaving! The consumer has historically been very lazy and just stuck with their providers giving them effectively unrestrained control of the market. It's only in recent years that this trend has started to change and smaller companie

  15. I get your thinking but why does it have to have a left wing solution? If energy companies are all having secret meetings to inflate the value of their products then it leaves the market wide open for competitors to enter and the government should do anything they can to stimulate that and prosecute the cartel. If they can't then why would they do any better job of running it themselves? Better yet, if this accusation has any legitimacy buy shares in any or all of the Big Six! They have to go up in value because they control the market right? yet a quick search for the 5 year share pri

  17. even though I want out and voted out I can`t agree with you there, if the people who voted them in voted out then THAT is how they should vote, not the way the party wants them to or their own personal choice but that is what the last vote was for, now they should put all party bullshit behind them and vote for whats good for the country for a change, , time the twats started to realise that the voting public is getting tired of their lies and b/s at election times I understand your point but I'd have to disagree for the following reason. In normal parliamentary practice an MP should r
  18. Salting just dehydrates it, as soon as moisture touches them they'll absorb it and rot. Wet hands, spilt drink, damp room is enough to cause it and one day you'll smell a good awful rotting maggoty stench from what was once a bone dry salty skin! You need to treat them. Simplest way for most folks is brain tanning. It'll go like chamois leather after that and not absorb moisture.
  19. Most people don't read beyond the headlines So we're left with too stupid, and too lazy... The future's bright, but the future's orange! “The best argument against Democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.”
  20. They're a throw back to when mankind lived by his whits and courage. It was these crazy b*****ds that would run from the cave to lure away the saber-toothed cat trying to eat their family! Like the folk that find hunting exhilarating, there are folk that find risking their lives exhilarating. I reckon they're f***ing mad but I think I understand them and kinda respect them.

  22. A commonly misunderstood piece of legislation! There's nothing demonstrably illegal about that photo, public or private road. Nice one, well done to daughter and father.
