  1. Part Three in the series: http://fieldsportsmagazine.com/Shooting-Stalking/close-call-part-3.html Cape Buffalo.
  2. A commonly misunderstood piece of legislation! There's nothing demonstrably illegal about that photo, public or private road. Nice one, well done to daughter and father.
  3. Flatcaps, tweed and waxed, various baseball caps, beanies, wooly hats, aussie style bush hat. Quite fancy a kiwi stockman. Hardly wear any of them really. Get hot too quickly.
  4. This cycle seemed to last a bit longer than previous cycles as you say. I remember having a chat about rabbits and saying that it's been a long while since the rabbits suffered myxi, then weeks later they were flattened by it! I was starting to wonder if they had developed a stronger resistance to it. They certainly have, over the last 5 or so years I've seen a fair few rabbits that look to have had myxi but are recovering, and it hasn't seemed to have an effect on numbers. This past season though a real noticeable shortage in rabbits but no myxi visible, seems to be VHD is being blamed for t
  5. The difference suggested is that with typical spring type traps the trapper is more aware of non target kills and can pull the traps or modify the set if it becomes an issue. These kiwi traps (presumably made by the DoC?) don't have that inherent means of assessing every kill by their nature. With Fenns, if you kill 10 hotchys ya know about it whereas with these automatic traps you could kill a 100 and possibly never know. Well that's how I understood it.... That's what I took the post to mean. It also raises the question about visiting traps every day. I surmise that the same req
  6. I think any ideology has a bit of room for movement before a person is better fit to another. I'd agree that a traditional conservative view is to generally oppose minorities but there's a lot more to conservatism than that, modern or traditional. Not many people personify every aspect of an ideology and that's even if you can get everyone to agree on what that would be. I agree that mainstream conservatism has changed, it's become socially more liberal. I just hardly think that liking to f**k men torpedoes any possibility of being a conservative. Most folks have leanings towards other ide

  9. You realise that the Conservative ideology is a bit more encompassing than simply not wanting to f**k other men.
  10. They've been smashed by disease mate all over the country. Everyone has witnessed exactly the same events as you, seemed to be lifting with rabbits in summer and then nothing by xmas. That's just life. There'll be a few to go at again in October. With a bit of good fortune the lack of rabbits will starve half the f***ing buzzards.
  11. There's a little principle we hold dear in the West called 'due process'. I'm all for gloves off warfare against barbarians but I'm not quite on board with the yanks definition of 'the enemy' so I'll remain a little dubious of all this.
  12. Well my ignorance of tank warfare helped me with that film then.
  13. I barely watch TV, I just started work again and I need something to keep me occupied. Last night I actually downloaded some older war movies, one called Stalingrad made in the 90s which is good. I love Das Boot, Downfall and all of the old ones like the Longest Day, Battle of Britain and A Bridge too Far. They use artistic licence but are closer to documentaries films that the utter shite they produce today. Even Private Ryan is a ridiculous story from fantasy land and yet it's lauded as the "best WW2 ever made". Yes the cinematography is amazing and they get the uniforms right etc but w
  14. That film Argo, about the CIA op to save the Americans working in the US embassy in Tehran during the revolution is another one that gripes me. Affleck is explicit in stating that the British turned them away and refused to aid the fleeing Americans, which is historically bullshit! In actual fact the British embassy took the yanks in and looked after them until they decided to safely move them on as being such a strong ally to America the British were obvious suspects and so it was too risky for the Americans to stay.
  15. I wonder if they mention in the film the fact that the first two flights were manned by British pilots because they dare not risk a yank until they had more faith in not getting shot down? I've not even watched the film yet and already I have issues with it! LOL Ha ha is that true?? Well it's a well made film (Bridge of Spys) but it's got the typical Hollywood feel i.e. the time between Powers getting captured and released is made to seem like its weeks or months when in reality in was over two years. The worse culprit was Pearl Harbour....If I had owned a cat at the time
  16. It could get 60M signatures and the govt would not act on it. They'll be bound by international law at a guess. At best it'll show public sentiment on such issues for future policy decisions, which ain't a bad thing. They should bring back Outlawry for such people.

  18. How long do you recon they want? Hazel is alright after a year but benefits from two imo but as I said I have no experience with anything else so would appreciate your advice. There fairly sturdy too!
  19. Anybody worked with Blackthorn? I've cut two crackers at xmas. One I think will be a traditional knob handle but the other has a natural straight crook from the branch it grew off (like an ice pickaxe) which I think I'll keep and shape a bit. Always used hazel in the past but I think Blackthorn/Hawthorn makes for a better quality end product, so giving it a go.

It'd take 200 years for the folks left on the planet but the folks travelling it would happen instantly, they'd not age a second during the time they were travelling at light speed. really,,,,thats not what that brian cox fella said,,,rememberd his name...he said it would be the great great great grandchildren of the people that maned the space craft that would get to the nearest planet that might support life... he also said it would take 6 years for the space craft to axcelerate up to light speed,,,and even then it would be just under light speed.... I have no idea what h

Imagine what could have been achieved by now had the Roman/Greece civilizations not collapsed leading to Europe suffering a thousand years of regression/stagnation.
  23. Funny how the Lib/dems are banging on about democracy know , had they had there way there wouldn't have been a referendum in the first place , now all of a sudden we need another one because they didn't like the result , like buses with them you wait years for one then all of a sudden there's another one coming ..They have only got eight mp's , hardly makes them main stream ..tossers and losers.... I do laugh when I read in the news what some lib dem's opinion is. I'm not sure any c**t cares but they're still treated like a major part of British politics! FANTASY
