  1. What was your trade mate? I think in another life I’d quite liked to have been a clearance diver.
  2. I bet that was a good era to be a sailor. Real adventure and a bit of action still.

He didn't say it was boring! But thanks!
  4. The angel of death is the one that gives the notice… Hes busy at the moment with some unexpected chainsaw thieves. Delayed his schedule.

I was shocked when on the job thread, no one said "PORN STAR". 20 years ago it'd have been the second post!

It's when you hear the clicking turn to screeching ya get a real urgency about your actions. Never mind black and white.

It's the high energy ionising particle that that represents that I'm talking about.

Electrons orbit protons/neutron (aka the atomic nucleus) but yeah, it's a common theme in nature. But the universe shouldn't really be thought of in 3 dimensions like that, it should be thought of in 4 spacial dimensions really, which is conceptually difficult. Expansion is not like an explosion with all the matter being forced apart, if it was then we could measure that force. It's quite literally the space between everything increasing. Nothing actually felt like it was exploding away under an explosive force. Like dots on a balloon being inflated move apart, yet they don't actually change l

It is testable. Based on the theory, predictions are made and then looked for in experiments. It's tested and has so far held up to that scrutiny. Just because we can't do the "let's make a universe ourselves" experiment doesn't mean we can't test the theory. I invented a measurement technique using instruments that emit and detect gamma radiation and nuclear simulation software to model the behaviour. The technique gave a measure of the cavity behind steel pipe that was within a borehole extending hundreds of meters below the surface. There was no practical way we could go down with a ta

It's complicated and I wouldn't be able to fully explain it without studying it again. Just know with or without inflation, there is still expansion for all but a tiny fraction of a second of the Universes life. Only in that creationists have a problem with them. Otherwise it's like saying algebra has the same principles as hanging doors. Cosmology just doesn't have a biology angle. They're miles apart.

I expected I did. In fact, my first thought was "I must beat Wilf to this!".

If I understand you right, you're asking why do the galaxies not behave similar to what we are told the universe does. The universe isn't like a mass of galaxies, like a galaxy is a mass of stars. It's a different model to the star system, galaxies etc we know to exist within the universe. Inflation ended, but expansion didn't end. Inflation is just a very specific and short period after the big bang that is defined by certain phenomena. After that the universe continued to expand but behaved a bit differently to what it did initially. Dunno, there is solar wind, but it's a st

I had to google that, it's such a non entity.
  17. I like it when one occasionally crops up that is engaging from a character who's profession or field I have very little interest in. It's refreshing being exposed to something different because the person is just interesting. Cowboy Cerrone and Whitney Cummings are two that come to mind.
  18. CIA fella? Mike Baker. I know what you mean, but I like the subject matter.

I'm not, cyclic models are a competing theory to inflation models. But you realise we are talking about the first 0.000000000000000000000000000000001 s of the Universes life/cycle right? The proposed inflationary period. That's when inflation is considered to have ended and it is what the physics was before that time which is being argued over. Far as I can tell they all agree the universe expanded after that and still is. And it still has absolutely nothing to do with biology.

This is the first I'm reading about these new images being at all troubling. LOL. You're supposed to be the one telling me. Far as I'm aware the research is just ticking over in the way it does normally. Nothing particularly paradigm shifting happening. Of course not. But I'm not putting much effort chasing up the claims of sources with a clear science twisting agenda. They tactically make no reference to religion but only cover subjects which threaten Christian beliefs....
  21. I genuinely enjoy actually watching them. I don't watch many, but I'll do an hour or two in a evening on the box. I couldn't imagine being able to engage completely with just audio.
  22. Do you really think the people that hate him have ever listened to him, beyond what they have been fed in their echo chamber? His success threatens the status quo. And challenging him is hard, as he's clearly a very decent human being and not the monster they want him to be.
  23. Unlike many other alternatives to the mainstream, Rogan is not pretending to be a free thinker to entertain and promote a biased worldview, he's genuinely in pursuit of the truth and whatever excites his mind. The vast majority of alternative media sources have an agenda that they are pushing through a veil of "we're free thinkers". Joe is not an academic, but he is a free thinker and has the skills to make his platform engaging and widely available, in a world where a significant portion of the establishment are actively or passively opposed to him. He's a born again bow hunter and has b
