    I've just Googled. ...around 15000...in Bristol London and Bristol. .most as you say in service in the big houses....some were paid ...some still slaves... We were one of the first countries to outlaw slavery 1820 ish.....

    There were small resident population of blacks living in Bristol Liverpool since the early 1800 wilf... Obviously not on the scale of the USA and our colonies. .

    I'm sure he could...it would work out more expensive though..even though he might get housing benefit. ..they don't pay it all..and I think there's now a ceiling limit

    Wilf is pretty much on the money regarding what to do.....I worked in a housing shelter...OK I was security. ..but I got to witness first hand some of the goings on in there....the place I worked was a hostel type place....there was 36 separate flats in there ranging from 1 bed to 4 bed....family's and single folk ended up there when they were waiting to be housed by the council. ..the staff were basically social workers they were there to help folk get on the ladder ...help with everything from finding a place to live....to getting every bit of benefits. ...and very often grants and handouts

    What was up the tree..? Watched a Hare go up a hollow branch to evade my dog Sally years ago...one end touched the ground where the Hare entered....the branch went up off the ground about 4..5 feet..I could see the Hare through little holes in the rotten branch as it crawled through to the farthest end..we left it alone and moved on....always nice to animals do stuff out of the ordinary

    Yeh them buck squirrels sure have a big set of bollox for the size of animal .I got a little squirrel job on at the mo handy for ferret food... Trev has that grew bitch dropped them pups yet?

    Yeh did a bit off pegging at Kneeton myself back in the day....I can almost see Kneeton from my house..I'm just two villages away. ..walked along that bank from East Bridgford to Kneeton a good few times in recant years...nowt there now...bloody shame I tell ya...
