Oscar,wheaten x bull pup 15 weeks
neil cooney replied to lurcher330's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
hi neil the strong dog would have other jobs to do aswell like bigger stuff as a catch dog thanks I know and that's what I'm trying to tell you, do yourself a favour and concentrate on your stopping, not having some fun. -
What was the well known dog where the slipper jumped through the ice to save him ? Genuine question. And Redquil, Sir Mark lives in Heath House, LOL. I'm a fan of his. The only flat trainer I really follow. A cocker too and has the heads of two Spanish fighting bulls mounted in Heath House that killed their Matadors.

That's an under statement M F, we even have them in towns here now and generally, they're unwanted.

Never ever under estimate our Heron. I'm not sure what's the biggest fish they'll take but I do know of one heron that was shot (I'm aware that they are protected in Ireland) because it was taking ducklings off a pond and when opened up there was 16 six week old ducklings in it. I wouldn't have believed it only I seen the photos and before anyone calls me a liar the same photos were shown to several lads. I see Herons daily and there can be a massive size difference between a small Grey Heron and a big Grey Heron. I wouldn't be surprised if they grow for most of their lives. Grey Crows see

Haven't heard of any local yet. Treehands, you would really want to know what your at pulling one of them babies onto a kayak. Where I fish for mackerel I've often asked has anyone caught Tope from the shore but the answer is no, but, they catch Tope up to 50 lbs from boats only a couple of hundred yards from the rocks so of course they could be caught from the shore. There was a man in Clare in the 40s (I think) who pioneered shark fishing in Ireland and was catching large Porbeagles from the shore back then. The Porbeagles were fished to near extinction ,but, as far as I know they're

Plummer Cross Bedlington Terrier
neil cooney replied to low plains drifter's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Thanks Morton .I always thought he had the working instinct of his terriers at heart ,even if I didn't agree with some of the theories he said in interviews on both video and in books. And I wont argue with the fact that the Beddy wouldn't be around as a worker without him. -

Get your self a .22 lad, a lot less hassle. Let's face it, if your terriers are any good the quarry should be just there in front of it and there's no need for a heavy dog. They'll just slow you down on a mornings stopping. -
I still reckon that he will end up looking like the next president but will mysteriously go missing OR usually how the yanks do it, he'll be whacked in broad daylight with no witnesses. Watch this space.

Do you want some ? .

If they took dogs off you before they can test the DNA to see if you replaced them with related dogs. Using so called experts to decide if a dog is a banned breed or not is the main reason so many folk had their pet staffs and similar destroyed in the North of Ireland when the little midget hitler was running the show.

Hare In Evening Light And 1St Ever Cuckoo
neil cooney replied to zandy01's topic in Wildlife and General Photography
I was thinking the same thing and then thought to myself that Hares can't see directly in front of them but that Hare IMO can see Zandy. Great pics, I'd have that one of the Cuckoo framed. -
Are you saying the fox killed all 18 birds and kept returning 'till he had all of them gone OR was he killing 1 at a time and did this 18 times ? I've known a vixen jump in a hole 8 foot up a wall where a block was removed for ventilation and killed 24 or so hens. She then jumped back out the same hole from the flat ground with nothing to help her and she had a hen in her mouth. Never ever let your guard down regarding foxes.

http://fishinginireland.info/news/sea-reports/donegal-kayak-angler-catches-donegal-tope/ I guess this answers the question are there any mackerel around Donegal yet.

But in Ireland we don't have many Carrion Crows, just one of them things I guess.

LOL, that crow should cop on to itself and vape.

Game fowl are probably the hardiest of fowl and they'll thrive when given a good place to live and a good diet and clean water. Don't over feed, about 3 oz per bird per day is enough, and a few handfuls of fresh grass and dandylion leaves a few days a week will help as will a source of protein. You'll be amazed how carnivorous chickens are (I seen a hen eating mice twice recently) and I mix a little soaked dogfood through their grain. Funny, but I don't give my dogs dog nuts, LOL. And start keeping on top of the vermin from day 1, not when you start to see signs. Rats will take eggs, take ch

Another bonus in the same area that I hammered the grey crows and magpies is the amount of ground nesting birds that are breeding. I can't take my eye of the Springer when she's with me as she marks nest after nest. It doesn't happen in too many other places.

In theory it's impossible to have a pit bull in Britain because when the DDA came into force all pit bulls should have been neutered and importing one is illegal which means they should have all died out by now. But how do you I.D. a pit bull ? Pat Patrick used to have a little quiz on his site which showed 10 dogs (ie. a boxer, a patterdale, a staff etc.) where you were asked to pick the pit bull out of the list. Also, I see the struggling League Against Cruel Sports are using the latest dog attacks to start a new campaign. These attacks couldn't have happened at a better time for LACS.

Camel Kills Owner By Severing His Head.
neil cooney replied to forest of dean redneck's topic in General Talk
So the moral of the story is that if you believe the old wives tale that a camel can go all day without water then you'll loose your head. -
That lake seems to be fishing it's head off this year because all I hear from it is plenty of big trout being caught, including on the fly. Last year everyone was complaining about how bad it was.
-
No Treehands and I've no excuse because I have a few friends into it and they're always asking me to go.

LOL, we'll go your spot first because 9 times outta 10 I don't get a bass, LOL. It's actually the mouth of the Boyne where I fish for Bass. It's also good for Sea Trout and now and again the middle of the river erupts with shoals of Mackerel going up and down the estuary. The 1 or 2 Seals around usually let you know when the Mackerel are around. There's a gentleman also fishes there for Bass and he only uses the fly. It's an education watching him. He can spot Bass in the surf or under the surface and cast directly at the particular fish and he often gets it too.

i watched a few 3/4 grey 1/4 deerhounds in the 90s andy baron bred and they could do a job on hares. i asked the same question on another forum a while ago and was told the deerhound line was Ardkinglas. Thanks Darbo, I always wondered what lines they were. He seemed to vanish off the scene as quick as he appeared.

The tastiest duck IMO. I took the last one I had in my freezer out last week and curried it with a pheasant. Pheasant was delicious, the duck wasn't. I don't know where I went wrong, LOL.
