Bloody hell, that's both good and original. Do yourself a favour and get the pics the right way around so folk can appreciate them properly. Brilliant.

Tell the doctor that your mother-in-law has come to live with you ,that should do it. If that doesn't work tell him she walks around the house naked, that'll definitely do it.

I had a greyhound bitch that lived in. Like Gaz said above about his brindle bitch , she was adept at stealing food without making it look like she had. I remember one time the missus had prepared a whole load of peppers for roasting. Those large, red long ones about the size of your hand. Each one was halved lengthways then the insides were stuffed with some sort of cheesy mix. She'd got a whole load of these on a roasting tray about to go in the oven when the phone rang. She nipped next door to answer it, passing the greyhound who'd been lying on her bed watching. The missus came back though

Never had nettle wine but made nettle ale a few times, and it's nice. You'd open the bottle and the smell would put you off but once ye drank it it would be lovely.

A beautiful song. I leave my bedroom window open a bit in the Springtime to listen to them and I often hear them singing at midnight. They're plucky too. You'll often see them in the highest branches of a bush or tree singing their hearts out which leaves them wide open to the Sparrowhawk. It's like they don't care. Also at this time of the year you'll often see them dead on the roads where they've been fighting with a rival and don't see the danger coming. In fact, you'll often see two cocks dead beside one another. My favourite songster.

It shouldn't make sense but I blame the Greyhound blood. Every lurcher I've ever had was a thief of some sort and breeding wise the only common denominator was the greyhound. Wheaten, Bull, Deerhound, Bedlington, Collie and others and they were all thieves. But they all had Greyhound in them. The lurcher I have now catches rats around my chicken pens and sneaks out into a field and buries them, when she thinks no one's watching.

FFS Fatman ye must have a path worn up and down that lake by now. The trout seem to be the only fish really biting at the moment. Coarse fish are spawning and the Mackerel aren't in properly yet.

Is that a Nuthatch ? Did it come down to some spilled maggots ?
-
It's a good combination Francie. Put on your string of feathers but at the end instead of a weight put on a heavy lure and you might get a extra mackerel or a passing bass if you're lucky.

I laughed when the winner crossed the line. A mate was at The Curragh last week and was talking to the winning jockey Pat Smullen. He asked Smullen what did he reckon would win The Derby. Smullen mentioned two or three that he thought would have a chance but never mentioned his horse. My mates been going around all week telling everyone what Pat Smullen told him, LOL, but he didn't tell him the winner, LOL.

That's the thing Trigger, he was a Champion in an era of Super Champions. The Golden Era IMO. Watching the news this morning they kept showing the footage of Henry Cooper putting Ali on the ropes. FFS I think that moment in sporting history meant more to you Brits than the '66 World Cup . LOL. Does everything come down to a hate of the Brits with you or what!???...anyway what was the name of the Heavyweight out of Ireland that put Clay on his arse?? i forget...was it Dan Donnelly maybe?? ...Cooper had one of the best left hooks in the division at that point...Clay was saved by the bell

Nice pics Meroman. I was at that show a couple of times years ago and it's top class.

I should be talking to a few trawler men tomorrow and I'll ask them but I think I already know the answer. In this part of the world the Mackerel seem to get later every year, that's if they arrive at all. I haven't had my breakfast yet and a fresh Mackerel straight onto the pan would be nice. I wish, LOL.

Best of luck with the book Adam. Is there any mention of hard ,but, mad Irish men in it ? -
Going by the rest of our posts it's sounds like you did too good job during the Winter, .

It's a good question Pablo and not something I've ever thought about regarding the breeding of terriers ,BUT, I do a lot investigating in to how others breed different animals for performance and one thing I've seen several times regarding the breeding of game cocks for gameness is they say "age on one side, youth on the other."

my oldman always says-did you hear them ducks?lol-if he drops his guts and it f****n stinks then it's "bigger breaths it will go quicker"he said it once in a lift full of store girls when I worked shopfitting with him-man has no shame lol.atb dc Used to dig with a chap who'd let rip for several seconds and he'd say "f**k me, there's a fox after bolting on a motor bike." Used to drink with another chap and if you asked him was he drinking last night he'd say "I was fuller than a Tinker womans bra."

I missed this post the last time but years and years ago it was common practice among Cockers to fight a cock but not breed from him but breed from his un-fought brother as they believed that the virility used up by fighting would mean less virile offspring. Never heard of the same theory in dogs though but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if ol' timers did believe it.

So it's not just local to me Foxdropper, nor am I imagining things, LOL. Also seen Leverets yesterday the size of Rabbits which done my heart good to see and while sitting behind a stone wall calling for a rogue fox I had two adult Hares come up to me to investigate. I should carry a camera really. But the size variation in cubs this year really makes you realise why folk often thing that foxes might have a second litter. I'm beginning to agree with ye boys in that second litters might be a myth.

Haven't decided yet and there was a bit of cut in the ground yesterday. If it's the same today it will be a big factor. One things for sure ,the winner of yesterdays Oaks ,Minding, is something special and the way O Briens horses are running you'd have to look hard at them.

Piece Of Poo
neil cooney replied to PeskyWabbits's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
I see them regularly and always where corvids, usually Rooks, congregate so I've always presumed they're the corvid equivalent of Owl pellets. I could be wrong though. -
It's time to hit the hay.
