  1. I’ve got a trapping job today to catch a fox taking the farmers chickens. I assume as they eat the eggs that they lay it could be classed as essential. Who knows, but I do a fair bit of driving with work, and I’ve not been stopped by the police. I also walk the dogs and ride my bike, and the police just wave and carry on as normal. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
  2. Hi, I’ve got a fox taking some free range chickens that live behind the farmers house. I’ve got a cage trap at set. Any tips or do’s/don’t’s as it’s not something I’ve used before. Thanks.
  3. The KC had nothing to do with the Beddy not been used? If that’s the case, you could say the same about spaniels, labs, greyhounds, border collies. All of which excel at what there bred for. All off which have show stock in crufts. It’s the supposed working dog men breeding with show stock that’s ruined it. You wouldn’t get someone who likes showing beddy’s in crufts picking some scruffy fox hunting dog to breed with. Yet some terrier men will use a non tested dog to breed from. That’s there fault, not the KC brigade.
  4. Nice. I was just genuinely interested. In Lincolnshire hares give dogs the biggest run, but they still tend to stay in eye sight.
  5. Nice dogs and countryside. Are they tracker collars? If so, why do you need them? Do they hunt far from view then?
  6. Very nice. Is that a first cross? If so was the terrier a working dog? I would guess they would be a great bushing dog.
  7. Lovely looking bitch. If you like your old dog, I would use that. Is it much hassle using straws. He dosnt look like a coursing dog in that picture, but that’s the look I like. Good luck in what ever you chose.
  8. Stunning pups and parents mate. If I was getting a pup, these are the type I’d be interested in. Good luck with them.
  9. Looks a decent litter and the price is cheap for a dog imo. We payed £600 for a pet dog, let alone one that works. And I think most people have to buy from an advert as not everyone breeds what your after. I’ve had Lurchers for 30 years, and have been in a coursing club, met lads from all over, ferreted and dug to terriers regular, yet when I wanted my latest dog, I had to use an advert from the county mans weekly.
  10. I would say shooting 60/70 a fortnight has done more damage than myxi
  11. It’s been a different season for me than normal. I’ve kept big, fast Lurcher’s in the past, taking all sorts of game, pretty much anywhere. But now I’ve got this little thing, it’s a totally different season. Lots of ferreting, bushing, bush beating and general mouching about. Lots more hunting.. lots less catching. Still a good season though.
  12. Google ‘Lawson animal feeds’ . They sell it in large amounts
  13. Shredded wax paper is the best I find. Wood shavings go every where, and straw stinks. When mine were outside I used wax paper with a heat lamp above wired through a thermostat.
  14. Mine get clipped every 2/3 months. Loads better. Easier to keep clean too
  15. Oh yes I agree. I only do a bit of digging, so I’m still learning really.. but if the dog had stayed put for 10 mins and you started to dig, then the dog appeared from a hole.. you could think it’s come away from it’s quarry..but it might never have actually got to it in the first place. We dug down to a dog at the weekend and when we broke through, nothing was there. The dog was searching frantically but we couldn’t find anything. Maybe she was stuck and we assumed she was on??
  16. What about if a dog comes out after a while and tries another hole. So suppose the tube is too tight so it can’t reach its quarry, so after 10 mins of trying it comes out to try another entrance. It could then get get to it and stay till dug too.
  17. Good luck with the pups. The dog with the fox hound in Seems quiet small considering. Did you add fox hound to bring the size up, or to add something else?
  18. The only reds I’ve ever seen were in Richmond Park, as I was biking round it last year.. absolutely massive they were. I’ve ran fallow in the past and these looked twice the size, especially there necks.. it’s a no from me.
  19. Domed head, bulging eyes and tiny... sounds like a chihuahua ?
  20. Good question.. maybe it’s down to size, and also a beddy is quiet racey so it works well with a running dog.. you would think a fell terrier cross greyhound or whippet would be similar?
  21. To be honest, I disagree with the whole show game ruining them. It’s not effected other breeds like cockers or labs. If an owner of a working beddy has choose to use a show dog as a stud, then he’s the one at fault. Same with the people buying the pups. A working cocker owner wouldn’t choose a show dog as stud.
  22. It’s such a shame the bedlingtons arnt like what they used to be, not sure why really. I’ve got a beddy/whippet but I’ve never really had one before so I’ve nothing to compare it too. I’ve never seen a pure beddy work either, although I would love too. Maybe they just fell out of flavour to the black terriers, so less people bred/worked them.
  23. Morning all. Any genuine terrier lads fancy some vermin/pest control. No chavs or idiots please. Terrier work for a local game bird shoot. Drop me a message if so. Thanks
